I guess the best way I could describe it is a quote from Anderson to Bonds I read in Game of Shadows when Bonds would wear them. It was something to the effect of "Don't let anyone see what you got"...which stuck to me because unless it's leg day I wear a long sleeve shirt whenever I work out.

On occasion, especially in summer as I've been dieting down... it helps to self motivate.

Of course I'm ALL for the "to each their own", but to me it seems/feels different wearing a tank in the gym compared to say the beach or just outside on a glorious day. In the gym you have other bodybuilders checkin you out, where as on the beach/outdoors you have mostly regular non-workin out Joes.

I do. I think short-sleves, or any sleves, gets in my way when I work out. Plus, it lets me cool off better. I never wear them out of the gym though...

The only time I don't condone a tank top in the gym is when some f*cker is sweating bullets and uses the preacher curl bench, then doesn't wipe it down, gross.

Same Thoughts
I've been having the same thoughts lately. I like tank tops when I'm working shoulders or chest or arms. You can see the contraction. But I also think its a little showy and egotistical so I've been compromising and going sleeveless. I usualy change to a regular T after weights when I do cardio. Good comment though.

hahaha yeah I wear tank tops all the time (not those spaghetti tops like the pros though HAHA) because I was reading that overheating reduces performance. I get pretty heated up with a t shirt on, so I gotta wear something less to get more air to skin contact to cool my body down.

Good topic.
I believe everyone should wear what they want, even if it sometimes is NOT the most flattering to a male/female.
I have worked out in a tank top probably about 9 times in my life, always summer time.
So I say let everyone wear what they want BUT wipe down the equipment afterwards!!!!
Although I do sometimes laugh inside seeing some people crazy outfits.

I wear a sleeveless cause it feels good, that's about it. IT is loose and breezy.

NPC String Tops everyday, Flannel over that.
I like tanks because I can see everything I am working, if i want to practice posing in between sets I can see everything, etc.
I dont understand why people hate it, I dont care what people where in the gym. Whatever motivates you and makes you comfortable, wear it.
some days I will go in a gigantic sweatshirt too haha.

I wear tanks. I get really hot if I dont plus I like being able to watch the muscle work. Helps my MMC for some reason. Dont worry though, I wipe down equipment after using. I hate getting on a preacher after someone and its sweaty and has their deodorant left on it.

Haha, some good posts!! I used to see people wear sweatshirts all the time (not sure if that was some sort of fad or what), but not much anymore. This day in age it seems the older folk are wearing those tight fitting compression shirts even though their belly (among other things!!) is hanging 10 everywhere!!

Yeah, I wear the occasional tank top, but usually just on arm or shoulder day. I'm not one of those guys that looks in the mirror and poses in between sets (to each his own), and because I do tend to sweat profusely, I wipe down when I'm done. Why anyone would have a problem with this is beyond me.
