i thought those increases looked a bit much, got it done though. Bit of a shame the progression trend couldnt conitue but gotta meet the schedule and i reckon you'll be ok there. Keep that form on lock and you'll clear 300!

ha, do it son, massive tris ftw!
no doubt man, i just deleted it bc i didnt want to offend anyone and have anyone get their panties in a bunch lol
i know what you mean man, i just dont get people who think that being weak and not trying to improve is a good thing when getting big is your goal. it does not compute
soooooo many examples of people getting stronger and bigger, not so much for staying weak and getting big
yea, it was alot, and i did a ****ty job warming up too
i hope so man, i think if i can get to around a 330 touch and go bench, i may be able to handle 305ish on paused bench

lol nothing special.
just commenting on guys like that iskinny guy who seem to take pride in being weak and not caring about getting stronger. then you look at their weight and realize they have 14 inch arms and weigh 165.
then you look at a guy like layne who is 220 and deadlifts near 700 lbs and looks great. i just dont get it. and then these mini wanna be bodybuilders bashing anyone who likes strength training its just ridiculous
and the few big guys that promote that type of training and bash strength training look the same and are lifting the same **** for two years in a row. just kinda ridiculous to bash any type of training.
unless its the "stay weak" program or the 300 workout, it probably works
thanks man. i mean i hit the lift which was a massive pr for me, my prior best was 275x3 and this time i probably had 4 or maybe 5 witth 285Best Raw USAPL Competition Lifts

I think it's silly there has to be so many "factions" on this forum anyway. I follow all kinds of journals - BBing, PLing, Oly, etc. It's great to see people push themselves and excel at whatever they're doing...and that's all that really matters.
One thing that does irritate me though is that it seems like there are some PLing oriented guys on here that want to tell everyone else that they should train that way even if they have more bodybuilding oriented goals. I agree it's definitely important to keep getting stronger, but that doesn't mean always doing 3-5RM training, either. Look at what I'm doing, for example, How long did I spend just spinning my wheels? When I switched more of a BBing style of training a couple of months ago my strength suddenly took off. I just don't think my body agreed with the constant 1-5RM style of training. It beat me up and got me nowhere. It obviously works great for a lot of people, but it doesn't mean those people should be telling others that their way is the only way. Unfortunately that happens way too often around here.

lol, ill leave the posing to you my friend. you do it a hell of a lot better than i do anyway haha
it is silly. at this point though there are just as many people saying do the 5x5 as the answer to any question even "what should i have for breakfast", as there are idiots who make dumbass jokes like "do wendlertoez". i might have thought that was funny when i was five and i was at about that level of comedic creativity.
both sides are idiots, both sides are completely useless. how many times do you see idiotic responses like the above in exercise forum threads? they are useless, and the worst part is, they arent funnny at all. at least be creative if you are going to say something that has no substance in a thread.
as for the training, most of the guys pushing that type of training arent even powerlifters and dont know what they are talking about. most powerlifting routines, including the one im on and using next, use a variety of reps and periodization.
of course at some point you have to train lower reps to get used to a competition as in a competition you have to do a 1rm. thats my problem at this point, im just not used to single rep lifts so im struggling and im much better at rep work.
the combinatino of the two will give best results in my opinion
as for your trianing and mine for that matter, its going great. both are different yet successful. we both found something we enjoy and are good at, so we roll with it no matter how "different" it may seem.
after all, we are still both lifting weights, how different is it really?....Best Raw USAPL Competition Lifts

Heavy is relative...although you shoud be lifting heavier (reps or absolute max) than you did last year this time to show progress not plateou.
The problem lies in were you lifting the weight with good form and now lifting a heavier weight. I personally know that some of my lifts in the early days were sh!tty, especially on chest day. As a result my chest growth suffered. These days I don't count reps that aren't with good form. I still might pull them off but you are more like to not see them in my journal.
Even older bodybuilders can still get stronger. Absolute max may stop but reps, less rest time between sets and speed can continue. The point is you go as far as you genetic limit. I highly doubt that is a 315lb squat 200lb bench and 400lb dead.Cha Cha Cha

Review
-hybrid stance felt awesome
-speed off the floor is fantastic (had some powerlifters watchin my sets, said speed was very fast), no rounding of back at all, felt great
-didnt feel that heavy on the heavy set, felt like i could have done 5 or so
-accessory work was good, bb row felt quick and not too heavy, will increase that next time
-520 for a double next timeLast edited by LSU1; 03-06-2009 at 02:26 PM.

Damn man, your rows kick my rows ass, lol. Something I believe I really need to work on. That may be contributing to my lack of lockout strength.
Next deadlift session bring a camera.Excellence is the result of Caring more than others think is Wise; Risking more than others think is Safe. Dreaming more than others think is Practical and Expecting more than others think is Possible.

thanks matt. i really felt good on the deadlifts today, the speed was awesome and i felt a lot of pop on my pulls
rows are good too, i will try to get some vids next week of a couple of things
will have camera for the 520 pull no doubt
i think so too man, they contribute alot to upper back strength which is helpful on bench and also on deadlift. bringin em up certainly couldnt hurtBest Raw USAPL Competition Lifts
