3 Weeks Postpartum and needing help
I had my second son on May 20th 2008. I will most likely be clear by my doctor to start working out at my 6 week check up and I have no idea where to start. I want to lose the baby weight as fast as I can.

Congratulations, I just had a baby back in January my second a girl also my 2nd C section, anyways Ive lost my weight very quickly as soon as I started dieting and exercising 6 - 7 days a week. My best suggestion is Run Run, Run and do weights whatever youve got left in energy. If you feel up to do sprints at least 3 days a week. Everyone is dirrerent so it depends what will work for you. And when you are doing your cardio Id suggest work out very hard where you are breathing hard and gasping for air at times. If you can talk and read while on a treadmill your not using the time as wisely. Of course ease back into your workouts dont just start running 5 miles a day.
Again Congrats!

Just focus on starting slow. After my baby i started walking on the treadmill a few weeks after but didn't start lifting untill closer to 5-6 weeks post partum. Just listen to your body....
Make sure you are eating good and the weight should come off! I would say be consistent and once you're feeling good really hit the weights. I saw huge changes in my body once i got back into weights. I have heard that pregancy makes you lose muscle in general since you give so much to the baby so you may have to focus a little more on getting back to where you were pre-pregancy.

Congratulations.
Give yourself the full six weeks before you start anything serious. Besides, for those weeks, your baby will probably be a sucky little creature who never wants to be out of your arms. It's nature's way of making you rest enough.
Your ligaments get very lax during pregnancy to enable you to give birth, but it takes weeks for them to tighten up enough for weights afterwards.
Eat to appetite, but eat the best quality food you can. Don't try to diet, just to eat clean. Rest as much as possible. I know, with a newborn and an older child, easier said than done.
Once you are clear for exercising again, you should find you get back to normal fitness pretty quickly. If you can't get to a gym, try using your baby and toddler as a weight for things like deadlift, squat and benchpress at home. You may well find you are doing lots of stair climbing and dancing around just to keep your baby settled. I used to find that if I sat on a Swiss ball holding the baby and bounced, she was happy. Also, lots of walking with the buggy or a baby carrier.

HOT MOMMA
after a week I started taking to walk around the block, that's all I could do...then after 6 weeks i started working out when I could. I would try to workout while she was sleeping; jogging strollers are awesome too!

x2!! Jogging strollers are awesome!! I did the mall thing too, with all the pregnant weight still on I got hot easy so I walked laps around the mall lol. I got a lil' nasty though..sometimes people wouldn't move out of my way fast enough but well...that was just the babyblues lol.
Ahem. Anyway, just take it slow. Let your body tell you how much to do, you already know it's capable of so much but take your time. Getting out and about is a great way for some really good "me" time. Walking even without lifting will help greatly! If you're breastfeeding the weight will likely drop off even faster. A good diet has already been mentioned but one thing I wanted to suggest was to watch the sodium too. Sodium, postpartum, made me retain water like never before.
I think you look very good right now and I'm sure the weight you'd like to drop will come easy for you! Congratulations!!!!

Hey Neighbor! : ) I train in Bixby! Congrats on your new baby! I agree about taking it easy for a while but I always recommend Body for Life program when someone is just starting out. They have a book also that is very helpful and has a lot of pictures. You can check out their site at www.bodyforlife.com It's a 3 month program that many have had great results from! I think you can definately be in good shape by October! Good luck and keep posting! : )
