Anderson Silva considering moving up to LHW in a superfight against Liddell
http://www.mmafrenzy.com/2008/06/07/...ell-at-ufc-88/
Thats awesome news. I really hope this goes down. Anderson is un-real, but i have a weird gut feeling that Liddell will take it (if it happends).

I sure hope this doesnt happen
I dont think Chuck can lose weight, or will agree to do so. So Anderson will have to compensate
Anderson packing up more weight = Slower Anderson = bad anderson
Why would they do this anyway? Chuck lost twice, and not just ordinary losses either. Decisive losses that made him look like a chump. And now he's fighting a Anderson, who kept winnind decisively
I think Anderson will crush chuck, but there's always that undeserved puncher's chance win that chuck might get against a slower silva

anderson via KO round 2
chuck is more powerful than anderson, but anderson has advantages in precision striking, clinch, and athleticism

Dream match for me would be Crocop dropping to 205 and Anderson Silva moving up to 205 for a dream fight . Chuck Liddel will have to do though.

All that could change depending on how comfortable Anderson Silva finds the extra 20lbs of weight hanging off his body.

Anderson walks at about 215...he's just going to have to cut less, not "pack on and get slow."
As for the "undeserved puncher's chance"...bias much?

Not Crocop for me
I think GSP vs Silva would be the biggest fight in the history of UFC.
They are the same fighter and by far the 2 best athletes in MMA.

true 20 extra pounds could change his athleticism greatly...
hes 6'2 and claims to walk around 213 though so it shouldnt be much of a probelm

Anyway, just cos he "walks at 215 and cut down by 20" doesnt mean he's not going to be slower. 20 lbs is 20 lbs, and is going to slow you down, no matter what your weight, and even more visible at a medium weight
20 lbs for a 145er is HUGE
20lbs for a 185er is decisive
20lbs for a 225er is pretty small
As for the "undeserved puncher's chance"...bias much? -------- i mentioned this, because it's silva going out of his way and changing things, while chuck stays where he's used to. If Anderson KOs him with one, thats fine. But if chuck KOs him with it, you're going to get a lot of doubters saying he didnt really win it, since he fought a smaller guy who went out of his way to fight

What i had ment to say was that gsp should move up to 185 to fight andreson that would be the super fight of the ufc not saying that chuck and anderson wouldnt be a good fight i just think gsp has the tools to beat anderson. GSP has good jitsu good ground and pound and great striking ability, along with strength and athletism.

I dont like it because if Chuck wins then he is the middleweight champ and I dont see him fighting at that weight so the belt is just up for grabs. If there is no belt involved then the champ still could lose which would be stoopid and take alot of hype out of his next fight at middleweight. If this was boxing and there were numerous sanctioning bodies with belts then it would make more since but with one belt for each division going around I think it is a bad idea. These guys should stick to there weight classes and if they have to start moving up or down to get a fight worth watching then they need more depth in the sport.

Agreed, except with the more powerful part. I think Anderson is more powerful than Chuck (not by a lot, but...).
Plus Chuck leaves himself open to nasty counter attacks (ala Rampage). Hackleman said Machida would be a scary match for Chuck because of the way he strikes...so imagine Silva.
Don't get me wrong I am a Chuck fan from "the beggining" (him and Randy were the first fighters I met and who changed the way I thought about sport fighting). Straight up on the nuts (no homo).
I do think it would be a great fight and I think if anyone could move up in weight and not mess up there abilities or cardio it would be Anderson "the stick" Silva. I think he'd have better matches (less of the bully -j/k- he is now).

i dont know man if hendo cant beat silva i cant see GSP beating him either
striking, clinch, bjj. reach, size all go to silva
wrestling goes to GSP but hendo is better than GSP at that and silva crushed him. athleticism is pretty close slight nod to GSP
silva VIA ko round 1 or 2 TBQH

why not have a fight with Rampage
or even Hendo @ 205. The last fight I want to see is Anderson Silva vs Chuck Lidell.

Not if the fight doesn't happen at middleweight...which it wouldn't.

Would be an awesome fight, and a PPV buys machine for sure. That said, I think Anderson takes it rather easily unless, as others have said, fighting at 205 has a major impact on his quickness and athleticism.

WTF. Why are so many people saying that the weight change will effect silva. He already cuts weight doesn't he? If anything this could help him because he wouldn't have to worry about cutting weight . I honestly don't think the weight would factor in with his fight with lidell.

Good point, I did not even consider that for some strange reason. Say he still loses, what would his next fight be like at 185 to defend his belt? If he fights Chuck there will be a long wait to fight for the middleweight belt (not fair to his division) and then say he loses to Chuck, how much could you sell his title defense coming off a loss even at a different weight.

Considering it would be a loss to a former champion at a higher weight class, it's not like he would suddenly be considered a scrub not worth of his belt...

I agree, I am not saying the loss would damage his credibility but going straight into a title defense would take some luster off that fight...maybe.

I guess that is good but he's moving the wrong way for superfight to me
I'd rather see him go with GSP at a catchweight (or just GSP being at MW) but The Spider vs The Iceman would be good to
and probubly a bigger sell in the American market due to the preference for Striking
thing is Chuck only has one recent win out of his last 3 fights
so timing is kind of off
