17 years old. Interested in Figure. Lots of questions!!!
Heyy everyone I'm 17 years old and I live in New Jersey. When I started to get into the gym all the personal trainers told me I had very good genetics and I should compete. I also got the crazy idea in my head haha from my father, Franco Santoriello (no, I do not have contact with him anymore..)
So I was wondering whats everyyyythingg I need to know about Figure. How to get started and out there? What exactly should I be looking for in my body? I don't want to look too different in my off season from my on (just a little less lean), so how do I get to where I want to be and maintainnnn? Where and how do I find local novice competitions? Should I get a trainer or coach? How long should I give myself for a competition? I have a good meal plan and I've been losing fat and making gains I just don't know much about the actual competing side of things. Anything and Everything you could give me would be GREATLY GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!!

Three time WNBF Figure World Champion Angela Mraz is having a camp in Totowa, NJ in August.
I have attached the flyer. The INBF offers Teen Figure competitions as well as Open and Novice.

Thank you everyone these are soooo helpful. Keep 'em oming please
Oh, it says "COMPETITION ROUNDS & RULES ? WOMEN'S OPEN, TEEN & MASTERS (WOMEN OVER 30,40 & 50) FIGURE ROUND 1/SWIMSUIT: The contestants will present quarter turns with other contestants wearing high heels and a 2 piece swimsuit of their choice. No thong swimsuits will be permitted. Jewelry may be worn in this round. No oil may be worn. "
But then everything I read keeps talking about oiling up. Whats the deal?

Oil is more like for bodybuilding. It gives you a shiny look and puts emphasis on your muscles

I just posted a reply which you could use.
I have 2 free Figure ebooks with planning and some diet and training etc and a vid series/article series here all about competing from ground up for both fitness and figure.
http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showpo...31&postcount=4
Also have a youtube channel for fitness figure and you can find that link at figureteam.com but also see the faqs section there, you have to register but its free. this should get you well on your way.
