Talking Trackin' my food with big guns!

Sunday June 8th, 2008

I'm not sure how to post everything but I'll just pretend this is a food / progress journal and record everything so I can compare my intake with results. How does that sound??

Approx. 184grams of protein today! (yay!)

Cardio day!

8:30am - 143 pounds

45 minutes before) NO-Explode + 1) 150mg Green Tea Extract
L-Carnitine (2) 500mg (1)gr
30 minutes before) 10 gr. Whey protein

30 minute HIIT cardio elliptical
Pumped up and ready to rock!
Sweat like a pig and well after.

The stack was great!

After work-out
22gr. of whey shake
1 scoop creatine
1/2 apple

11:30
3 egg white w/whole egg omelet with 1/2 cup of black beans and salsa
1 slice ww bread and 1 1/2 tbs of almond butter
2 CLA

1:45
1 bowl of chili w/kidney, pinto and turkey meat
6 crackers
carrots
broc
cauliflower

3:45

2 scoops whey protein w/glutamine (5scoops)
3 big strawberries
12 oz fat free milk
bee pollen
wheat germ
brewers yeast
ground flax seed

It was disgusting. LOL! I won't put all that stuff in it again or at least not ALL of that but I drank it!

Grrrrrr TUFF!!

6:45 - Late dinner
Filet Mignon - no bacon
salad - leafy greens, spinach, cucumbers, carrots, radish, snap peas, cranberries, sunflower seeds
Fat free Italian dressing
2 CLA

8:00
1 scoop creatine
Light 20 minute elliptical jog

8:45
1 scoop protein w/ glutamine w/ water

That's it! It was a good day other than I like to have dinner done by no later than 6:30.

Well, I definately don't want any fat! : ) I'm working on gaining muscle now. It's hard to say how much. I love the look of muscle but not real big. I don't think I will know until I get there. I still have fat on my butt, thighs and belly but it's coming off. I'm at 143lbs now so at 6' I don't think I want to go any less.

My legs need a lot of work so I have to push hard on them. I definately want them bigger. Sorry if I sound so uncertain but I just don't know what I'll look like at certain stages.

Thanks for asking! You look awesome by the way! Lots of work you have been doing. I'm going to get measured sometime this week I hope! Good luck and keep sharing the pictures! : )

I managed to do another day with 185 grams of protein!

It really wasn't all that hard! I just have to keep track of it. I ate real well today just like yesterday I did have some whole grain rice in my turkey meatballs for dinner and I normally have no carbs for dinner but I did my 20 minute Abs of Steel work-out. ( Yep! The same VHS tape from years ago!) LOL! I'm afraid it's going to get ruined but I have used it and used it with great ab results and haven't found a better one yet!

I worked upper body today. Then 20 minute HIIT. I've lost some strength from not working out for a month when going to Turkey but I'm sure I'll get it back fairly quick.

I took a scoop of NO-Explode and 2 green tea extract pills before my work-out that I have not done before and then had my usual whey and 1/2 apple afterwards but this time when I got home I was not famished like I usually am. I didn't even feel really hungry. I was energetic and felt great! I was at the gym for 2 hours. I was real late preparing my lunch and was amazed that I didn't feel like I was going to die from no food. I went on ahead and ate a small banana and a soy shake until my food was finished cooking but that was first.

I'm wondering if it was the NO-Explode and the green tea extract.

Anyway, I'm going to keep that up. My husband said it made a HUGE difference in his work out as well. He felt like Super man! LOL! Lot's of energy, no gitters.

Hey Mandy! Thanks again! : ) I don't really care for the taste of No Explode but yes I like the results. I was afraid to use it at first because of what I had read on the internet from guys that used it. Saying they felt like their head was going to explode or something like that but I really think that is from abusing it and using way too much. I didn't feel that intensity at all and it just woke me up and gave me that boost I need for a good strong work out. So far I like it but I've only been using it for 3 days now. : )

What do you do for pre-workout? Do you have it in your journal?

Have a great day!

I've been doing really good these last couple of weeks. I'm really seeing a difference. The green tea extract has helped a lot and even my fat feels firmer. LOL! I haven't gained anything this week but I feel like I'm getting rid of the fat.

Lower body today along with a 20 minute HIIT afterwards. I get much more wore out doing lower body and sometimes I feel like I don't get a good work-out in even when I feel wobbly! Hmm.?

Hey there! : )

Eat breakfast and then an hour 1/2 or so I always have NO explode, 10gr. protein and slow carbs before weights.
Creatine, 32gr. whey protein, fast carbs after workout.

Cardio day i'll have the NO explode or L-carnitine and 300mg of green tea extract and 10 gr of protein.
30 gr of whey and 30 gr fast carbs afterwards.

I think I was feeling pretty tired from my lower body workout because I hadn't fully recovered from a couple of day before that. I was pretty sore again so I got a good work out in.

I'm up by a pound today at 145.4 - Okay with me. I don't think it's fat... haha : ) hopefully not! Lots more definition, and my legs are looking less saggy! More pictures and measurements in 2 weeks!

I haven't heard of Evolution Labs. I'm glad there is so much available for us to try!

I lost the pound I gained. I think it's running around in my livingroom! I had some green tea yesterday afternoon along with some green tea extract later on and had to force myself to eat at 3 and then at dinner too. I gotta be careful about that but at least I know it's a good appitite suppresant. I probably didn't get my calories in.

Yesterday I rested all day besides, cleaning, laundry, etc. I haven't done that in about 10 days I think.

I feel good this morning!

Making decisions...

I haven't done any journaling in a while but thought I would post again.

I have been feeling a bit down for about 4 or 5 days now. It's getting better though. I don't fret too much about moods because I know they come and go. No biggie. I think my problem is that my body was just TIRED. My mind TIRED. Constant 24/7 check on what I eat, when to eat it, how much, work outs and I think I was just over training and needed a break. It started to wear on me so I took off for 2 days.

That was nice. Gave myself a chance to regroup and just "be" for a little bit. I still ate good just no training. Actually got a little bit of painting done. (I'm an artist) I think I'm still trying to find a balance and not "freak out" if I didn't work calves or abs this week. At times it feels like a tremendous amount to juggle.

Then I get weary and because I'm tired I get to thinking that I'm doing all of this just so I can look "hot"? What kind of ego crap is that?

I took a picture of myself in a swimsuit. It looks good but honestly I feel more disgusted by it than good. Mainly because it goes against the grain of what I'm wanting. I want to be healthy, I want to travel and not be wore out because of a body that I don't train well. I love the discipline and the challenge but when I look at that picture I feel like i'm saying, Hey! Look at my boobs! Hey, I'm ready for your lovin'! LOL! It really just sickens me...

So I'm in search of a balance and what this "new me" really wants and IS.

I have decisions to make and they feel a little frightening as well. Maybe I'm afraid that I'll fail? I don't really know at this point.

I'm going to look over some work-outs that I think might be good for me and kind of start over in a sense. Lift heavier and not spend so much time at the gym. We'll see how it goes. : )

Hey, just wanted to say hi!! I'll be following your journal too. As the other girls mentioned, it looks like you're doing great so far!!

As for changing the title of your journal ( you mentioned that ) I think you can get one of the mods to change it, if I'm not mistaken That way you don't have to lose any of the info you already posted.

Red face

I thought I would track some things for a few days. I'm looking to find more of a balance in my workouts especially!

Total Calories: 1897
Fat: 48 23%
Sat: 8 4%
Poly: 8 4%
Mono: 2 1%
Carbs: 171 33%
Fiber: 20 0%
Protein: 200 44%

Chest and Tri's today.

I'm attempting to lift heavier and not do so many workouts at the gym and split things up a bit. Seems I can't get myself satisfied unless I'm pooped! So I gotta cut that out see how this goes for a while.

I don't usually do a bench press I use dumbbells but I'm going to change that up too!

I could only do 55lbs, barely 6 but I was glad to see where I'm at.

55/6 bench press
50/7
45/8
40/12 dumbbell press
55/12 Fly Machine

Triceps

dip assist
55# 8
70# 10
85# 14

25# /12 single dumbell behind the head laying on a bench. What's that called?? LOL!

30/10 rope cable - Tri's were fried, that's all I could do.

Muscles felt hard and good.

Bwahahaa... : )

I don't hardly do cardio any more because I want to build muscle and I'm concerned I'll lose too much and turn into a giant stick. haha! So I just do a slow jog/fast walk on a high incline after my weight training. I'll build muscle up until Spring next year and then cut.

Sound good?

Hopefully get a good nights sleep tonight.

I felt pretty good today! I'm going to see if I can maintain my weight at about 1900 calories. I may have to lower the carbs but for now I don't want to lose any more weight so I can build up muscle and then shave off the rest of the fat beginning of next year! That's the goal!

It has felt really good to try and do my weight training every other day. I think that's the balance I really needed. I can actually get some stuff done around the house and get back to painting!

I went and bought a digital scale at wal-mart! It's wonderful!! I have always been afraid to do that because I thought it was a bit obsessive but It helps so much to use the scale so I won't have to guess when tracking my food at fitday.com. I don't plan to do it forever but just for now it really helps! : )

I got in a good ab workout tonight, I plan to try and do that every other day if I'm not too sore.

Tomorrow is leg day! I'm READY!

I hope everyone has a great night! : )

thanks so much vanillabn! I'm going to give it a good shot when it comes to the muscle! I love finally seeing results! I just have to be careful on not getting to skinny at my height.

I'm up early so I'm going to do my best to get out of the house quick and home early!

I have to start painting regularly!!

What was I thinking??

Well, this morning did not go good. Went to the gym, warmed up and then started my work out.

Leg press incline
115/12
205/7 -barely
145/10

Right leg
12 Lunges 40lbs
12 quick 1/2 lunge
25 kick backs
(no stopping)

Same left leg

I was going to try squats on the Smith machine and just couldn't get good form.

did some squats with dumb bells light weights.

Leg lifts machine
45/12
40/12
30/12

I just had no energy!!

I talked to the trainer/owner there and she said I might need to up my carbs on leg day since I get so drained so quickly! Oh my gosh! What was I thinking!! I went to work out with only a 1 scoop protein shake and a package of oatmeal with some raisins. No wonder! DUH! That pretty much blew the whole morning. Plus I've been taking Animal Pak (11 vitamins) I hate taking that many pills and it only made me feel yucky with little food in me. Then I had the NO-Xplode. Another mistake. It did nothing for me. I also had the Xtend to sip on while I did my work out and I only felt dehydrated and wanted to only drink water because it is so sweet.

Lessons learned!

I have to eat very good before leg work-out.

No more 500 vitamins. I have to find a good multi.
No more NO-Xplode some nice green tea will be good.
No more Xtend. Just water.

I know the BCAA's and Glutamine are good for me during a work out but I gotta just have water. That's crazy!

Terrible workout... I went home and ate and still feel depleted.

Gonna eat some more and just rest for a bit.

It's discouraging...

I'm sorry you had such a horrible workout! I just finished my muscle-building phase, so I know what you're going through. It's hard to gain weight when you just want to gain GOOD weight. Great job of keeping your protein up though! Don't worry too much on the scale (even though I was trying to gain weight, it still freaked me out to see it go up...) but definitely keep track of your measurements! That's where you'll really see progress.

Someone out there who takes Xtend can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you could drink it before your workout, or just anytime during the day. They're just branched chain amino acids, and getting them in at all is more important than getting them in just during your workout. Just my 2 cents on it, so you don't end up wasting money on the bottle of it.

Ditto for the animal pak- don't feel like you have to take them all at once. Could you take a few with breakfast, then the rest with dinner or before bed? I take Orange Triad, where 6 giant pills is a serving, but I break it into 2 pills/3 times a day (when I remember at all...). Again, just hate to see it go to waste, especially since animal pak is supposed to be a really good vitamin pak.

The good thing about a bad workout is that you learned a lot from it! Don't get discouraged- now you know how to make your next workout great!

hey just stopped by to say hi and seems like you are learning a lot as you go along! are you taking in enough cals? seems kinda low to me as I am SOOO much of a shortie and usually do at least 1600-1700 and I'm cutting. maybe adding those carbs will bring your cals up and help the energy levels... it's great to see more women "my age" in here...welcome

I agree with above as xtend is just bcaa's and the animal pac is good stuff. I just get the cheaper mvi's but have liked the animal pac when I used it. I definitely would take some kind of mvi if nothing else.
