Varicose veins...
(I can't believe I couldn't find one single post about Varicose vein issues)
Since this does seem to occur more in this age bracket, I figured this might be a good place to post this...
One of our own is struggling with severe VV issues & faces medical treatments soon. His area of the world does not appear to be very up to speed on it's information, either.
*snarf...
I was wondering if any one else out there is also dealing with this condition?
Most doctors now recommend,
"3?4 times a week of approximately 20 minutes of fairly strenuous exercise, such as walking or swimming", "taking a short stroll ever 30 mins", "compression bandages" & "alternative holistic approaches"
Have you experienced this issue?
So, what activities have you found help the most?
Have you found your work out suffers as a result of side effects of VV?
What have you found greatly helps the condition & what advices have your doctors given?
Anyone have any experience with protein conflicts per vein health?
How about use of Apple cider vinegar, Rosemary, Witch hazel, Horse chestnut, bilberries, butcher's broom, gotu kola, ginko or hawthorn?
Anyone?

I have that problem too. The treatment mentioned in the other reply is called sclerotherapy, injections into the bad veins that block the blood flow and kill the bad vein. The doc told me that healthy veins form back around it as time goes on. Depending on how bad or how many, it can take several treatments and insurance may or may not pay, but it has been worth it for me. I could have lived with it looking bad, but they hurt constantly at night before the treatments. The treatments are not too fun either (the first one was about 200 injections with a tiny needle and the feel pretty close to ant bites). It took 4 times and fewer injections each time for me. You can still see where most of them were, but they are fading away now.
Hope this helps.

Someone I care about has this disorder & I have been searching for others with this condition as well as doing a ton of research. It seems to effect men as much as women but the men tend to be less vocal about it so getting a guy's perspective(especially ppl who work out) tends to be more difficult.
(plus guys seem to be more hardheaded *grin...)
But, thank you for your input.

When I had an issue caused by varicose veins on my uterus (yes, it happened) I took Varigone~ a mixture of Witches Broom and horse chestnut. It helped me prolong my hysterectomy for several months. While on it, I noticed my tiny veins around my ankles, nose and upper thigh seemed to disappear.
The issue with this supplement is that it thins the blood, so if you take coumadin, aspirin every day or other blood thinners, you may not want to take this.
This is available from most health food stores or nutrition stores.
