Alex from the pictures looks like you are doing alright... don't be in a hurry
you said it yourself 15 years of bad eating habits don't just vanish in a few months.. well some people are lucky but most aren't and they need to work
harder on their diet, another thing I can tell you is that not all diets are created equal, what works for some might not be right for you..
So before you can find the right one you might have to try a few..
Sty away from prepared stuff including low fat stuff try and eat fresh as much as possible..
I personally do not believe in a protein rich diet unless you have a purpose(weight lifting , muscle building)
have you ever seen an overweight vegetarian?? they usually look almost sick that's how skinny they are.. moderation and balance, keep working out and burn more than you take in..
I am not a nutritionist by trade in fact I am quite the opposite LOL
nutrition is more like a hobby for me but it goes well with my my profession
Ohh and don't avoid carbs .. just stay away from sugar, margarine, corn syrup ,sweeteners and supermarket bread.. try and buy bread form a good organic bakery
even sliced whole wheat bread usually contains a crap load of sugar and 130-160 cal per slice, eat more fruit instead of the fig bars and no corn bread
