Achilles Injury?
Ok, I'll start this off by saying I am, at the moment, trying to setup up and appointment with a doctor.
Now that, that is out of the way, I'll tell you what happen. I play softball and have never felt this before. The season ended about 2-3 weeks ago and I have had no pain. I haven't ran much because of other issue I am having with my knee on my other leg. No signs of anything. Today after walking around a little bit at work I started to feel this pain in the back of my foot (the achilles area). I took a look at both my achilleses next to each other to see if there was any difference. The only difference I can see is that the one that hurts has this wierd looking bump on it. Looks like a vain popping out.
Any one have any idea what this might be?

If the pain is moderate, you may just have an onset of achilles tendonitis. RICE (rest, ice, compression, and elevation) is a good bet, along with stretching your calves (esp that one) a LOT.

Yeah, the pain is only moderate. After sitting for a while I can get up and walk, but then after about minute of walking the pain comes and its hard to walk normal. I'll complete RICE up until the time I have to go to the doctor. Thanks

How is the achilles coming? I have had achilles tendonitis in my right achilles for about 2 1/2 years now. I went to the doctor (finally) about a year ago and he gave me oral cortisone, which helped a lot, but only for a while. He also had me doing PT for 2 months, 3 times per week, using various exercises, ultrasound, and stretching, but it never really improved. Unfortunately my place of work changed their insurance coverage and I had to quit going to PT as it would cost me $120 per month, which I could not afford, and it never really felt like it was helping anyway. I am still suffering from pain in the achilles, but it's not nearly as bad as it used to be. I started jogging again for the first time in a year, but only a few laps at a time on the track. Sometimes it's so sore that I walk with a limp (especially mornings when it's stiff). Other times I can walk normally with little pain. The only therapy that seems to work at all for me is placing my toes on a wall with my heel on the ground, then bending my knee forward so that ALL the stretch is felt in my achilles. I hold this tightly for about a minute at a time. If anyone has any other ideas on healing an achilles tendon I'd love to hear it.
