Its called satanism because Christianity and believing in God was the norm and expected and if you didnt belong to the Christianity religion and believe in God then you were deemed evil and a devil worshiper. Thats just what you were labeled.

Theres heaps of different types of satanism, the old tradtitional types are incredibly ****ed up but laveyan is pretty much a aethiest except it has the ritual type things (NO SACRIFICE STUFF) that are not necessary to do /believe in.

The LaVeyan bible has sorta liek commandments as well, thats where the high morals and justified living come from.
