L-carnitine - How much is too much?
What is the ideal amount for muscle sparing/fat loss? Ive heard 2000mg 3x a day, but I wonder if this is accurate.

Around that range is fine taken surrounding exercise and with small meals that elicit an insulin response as this optimizes cellular uptake.
BTW, if you start to smell fishy, it's from the LCAR

Would ALCAR make one smell as fishy as LCAR?

Yup... Trimethylamine can be a byproduct of Carnitine metabolism by certain intestinal bacteria.
I'm not sure if the form would make a whole lot of difference or not.
