So a friend told me drinking water while eating is bad as it dilutes the food and screws up digestion. Do u guys know of any studies supporting/dismissing this claim?

Ive have also read something about this. Ill try an search out the article and post it up here.
However, i have read numerous articles which state that it is ok to drink water with meals.
I really dont know which one is better for you, but I still drink water with my meals.

No, there is NOTHING wrong with drinking water with a meal. Period. Water helps digestion and flushes out a lot of the crap while giving your body a transport agent to absorb the nutrients from the food.
Personally I would drink NOTHING besides water with a meal.Ron J

The reasons she told me was that 1)drinking while eating means u are not producing enuf saliva ie, not chewing enuf whic puts a load on the stomach and 2) the water will dilute the acid in stomach which does the digestion and so more will hav to be produced, agian more load on stomach.
Both reasons seem sensible. I dont think animals drink while/immediately after eating.

Maybe thats because they'd have to carry their food to a lake or stream, and its not worth the extra effort.

I eat and thoroughly enjoy egg whites; for some reason you now think you are smarter than me. This makes me smile.
