    15 pounds of muscle in 3 months = possible?q

    My friend went from 150 to 165 in three months and I told him some of it is deff fat but he said that hes positive its all muscle....

    I would guess the maximum muscle in a month, even noob gains would be around 2 pounds. If he's taking creatine and bulking I'm sure he's retaining a bunch of water

    definitly possible. not ALL muscle, but like 90% which is probably what he meant.

    1) if he just started working out it could definitly do that
    2) if he adjusted his diet and has been lifting it could definitly do that.

    i kind of do things the opposite of how it should be and bulk during the spring/summer and cut during the fall/winter (because of water polo season).

    this summer i've gained ~10 lbs in 10 weeks. I'd say a solid 8lbs of it is muscle and have watched my bench go from 225x5 to like 255x5. (no roids or supps). last year in the first 10 days of water polo i lost 14 lbs while eating ~6,000 calories/day when i went from 182 down to 168. i lost a ton of muscle but also a ton of fat. my point is: drastic weight changes are possible like that.
    NEW GOAL(s):
    Regain my strength.
    Put on 5 lbs of muscle.
    Gain better overall fitness (strength, endurance, muscle)

    That refers to the amount of contractile protein that can be synthesised, which is immeasurable and not the same as how much lean mass one can gain in a month.

    For all realistic intents and purposes, LBM = muscle. More than 3/4 of all muscle is made out of water and glycogen, don't forget. People, ESPECIALLY newbs, gain more than 2lbs muscle a month ALL THE TIME.

    OP, 15lbs of LBM in 3 months IS possible I'm sure, with newb gains and good genetics factored into account. It is not possible to gain like that on a consistent basis.

    If he gained 15lbs of BODYWEIGHT, it is almost certainly not all LBM, even if he looks as lean or leaner.

    Making gains that fast will pretty much always include fat gain.

    I think it could be close to possible.

    I know that when i started lifting again, i went from about 73kg to a solid 80kg in about 2-3 months.

    Don't underestimate the noob gains imo.

    He could be genetically gifted in his initial gains.

    Very very possible if he wasnt lifting before. But i mean as soon as he stops he is probably going to lose 10lbs in two or three weeks--just like everyone else.
