    Hanging leg raises-best for abs?

This seems to be an effective ab exercise....the only problem is when I attempt it, it is hard to keep from swinging. I have been doing leg raises to paralell on the piece of equipment where you rest your elbows and are against a back rest. Is this as effective as doing leg raises on a chin up bar?

No. But it does do something, if that helps.

Get an ab wheel, is my advice (and look up how to use it properly, in case you're unsure). FWIW, that's my "ab routine" per week: some strictly controlled leg raises, and lots of ab wheel work.

2nd the ab roll outs. Either get a wheel or use a barbell and load it up. I personally have not found a more effective exercise that carries over to all my lifts.
