I stuck with DB shrugs for the most part and behind the back BB shrugs sometimes (which I love). But yea, also on the DB shrugs, make sure to shrug as HIGH as you can and HOLD that position at the top for a second or two. And by "hold" i don't mean tense enough to hold it, I mean to SQUEEZE and keep contracting the traps as if you're trying to go even higher for that second or two. A lot of people say it doesn't make a difference, but in my experience it makes a huge difference. You'll notice you can't get as many reps with the same weight. Pick a weight you can BARELY get 5-7 reps with using the form I just discussed, and then when you can no longer get another rep with a peak contradction at the top, cheat a little by donig another 2 reps or so but without holding the DBs at the top. That way you get the absolute most out of your set.
