This guy's a joke - lawyers should be embarassed!
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080528/..._delta_suit_dc
I slipped twice at my last job and broke my arm twice, got about $3,000. Not to mention the fact that it will never be the same again. This guy has a less than perfect vacation and thats worth $1 million? I think Delta should sue him for being so ridiculous.
I planned a trip through United a couple months ago. To make a long story short I missed my flight because the airport required I had my baggage checked 45 minutes before the flight departed. I was there 40 minutes before. Nowhere on their website or confirmation e-mail did it mention that and its far from common knowledge. The family in front of me was able to cut through the line because they were running late for their flight. I called United and spoke with several people, none of which would allow me to talk to management. When I mentioned that they let a "family" skip ahead in the line while leaving me there to miss my flight they didn't care. I got nowhere with a huge company like United.
I missed my 2 year old nephews birthday and I also missed a well-deserved vacation because United did not inform me of changes to airport rules. Their customer service representatives were rude and not sympathetic. Does this mean I can sue them? I'm thinking like .... $2 million.

This is what's wrong with America. Idiots like this suing companies. Their PR folks will probably get on their ass and they'll end up paying him just to shut up.

That's nothing compared to these celebrity wives demanding ridiculous amounts of money from their famous husband.
Neil Diamond's and Michael Jordan's wife each getting $150 million, when they both asked for like in $300+ million range though. What makes you think you deserve that much??

Its times like these im embarassed to live in America. My old roommate owes me $6,000 for past rent/damanges/utility bills. I took him to court and he quit his job and moved so now he wins????? The court didnt give me anything, in fact the case got thrown out because I couldnt find him. And when I run into him and beat the crap out of him ill get sued by him, just watch! Such a f*cking joke. Such a f*cked up country we live in where you CAN'T carry a gram of weed on you but you can go to a bar and get served until you can't drive. Then, a cop pulls you over and you're out $5,000. Yet, I still hit potholes on a daily basis and I get a $30 ticket in the parking lot of my own work for not displaying the window sticker I paid $25 for.

its dumb to sue airliners... first of all most of all the companies are losing lots of money, most will be bankrupt unless they merge together.... now that theres these dumb cases, these airline companies are now losing money which ups the costs of a plane ticket to cover oil prices.....

It all comes down to this. Lets say this SAME guy went to joe's diner to celebrate his mom's 80'th birthday. The restaurant ran out of meatloaf which was his mom's only wish for her bday. Then, they ran out of candles for her free bday cake. On top of that, his burger came out medium well instead of medium rare. What a horrible experience!!! Does he:
a) Sue them for $1 million for ruining his mom's 80th birthday/his vacation
b) Ask to be compensated for his horrific dining experience

I think that's what his real intention is, I doubt any judge will award the family that much, I think he just wants his money back since he didn't get what he payed for.

It's not wrong to sue someone when they are in financial trouble. The fact that he is suing them with no case is what f's up the system. I sincerely doubt that he has any chance to recover anything in a fair trial. The problem is that very few cases ever get to trial. Big ass companies find it more financially feasible to just settle versus paying their attorneys for hundreds of hours for dispositions and **** as well as their public image being tarnished.
Frankly, I sincerely hope that the judge throws this case out of court on a motion from an airline.

It was just a poor airline, most airlines look after you in those situations.

Not just the lawyers but the judges and dury should also take common sense into practise, not just the laws . For stupid things like this the judge should make the man do community service for being a tool.

What a greedy POS douchebag, I'm sure his nice little family vacation was worth $1,000,000.00. What a joke.

In New Zealand atleast, we have a government department called "ACC" (Accident Compensation Corp) which covers compensation/payment for injuries sustained almost anywhere, which I believe means that we are unable to sue for stupid **** like that. It's excellent, I hope it is never gotten rid of, just incase we end up with situations like those mentioned
Fyi, I'm sure there are other reasons we can't sue, but as far as I'm aware ACC is the big one...
