Why cut artificial sweetners??
I'm a week and a half out from my figure comp. I really have a hard time drinking plain water and wondered why people cut out the artificial sweetners? How do they effect people that they need to cut them out?
Also, I've been told to eat a high sodium, high fat meal the evening before my comp. (I'm very carb sensitive) shouldn't I be cutting sodium at this time?

people cut sweeteners because it causes water retention with some people. if you don't bloat from them there is no reason to cut them out, but most do anyway as a safety precaution.

Cutting them a week out is fine for most people. I cut them all on Wednesday before the contest with no problems.

I have stopped using anything that contains splenda just because I would rather not trust these final weeks of my prep to anyone other than myself. Companies will per say manipulate labels a bit in order to get wack jobs like me to buy their sugar free jelly etc.
I have been using stevia extract of late, its expensive, but it compliments many of my favorite dishes. For example....
.5 Cups Oats
.25 mg Stevia Extract
.1 Tbs Hersheys Cocoa Powder
SEXO!

By the way you have to buy the special dark version of the cocoa. Stevia works wonders better under real bitter conditions. Just sayin....
