Oatmeal w/Egg whites...question
i feel kinda silly asking this BB Nutrition 101 question, BUT does anyone cook thier oatmeal w/egg whites in the micro?
i've done it before, but forgot what i did...i remember it was good, different and quik
do ya still add the water or milk..and the whites to the oats THEN nuke it?....and stir half way through?
(by the way, ...HI everyone... I was on an unintentional 'hiatis' (sp?)....and now i hope to be back amongst the BB.com er's once again...thank god... i missed it)

Hey girl.. I cook my egg whites in the micro wave and my oats.. but i've never done them together.. I would do it separately though. then stick them in the same bowl and add splenda and cinnaomin.. and if you like some sugar free mayple syrup sooo good..
I use water for my oats because milk isn't on the menu either..
I love Oats! I dont have them on my menu right now, but i used to do whey protein and oats mixed in.. so many flavor combos out there..never get bored , choc oats were my fav.

I soak my oats overnight (non-quick oats & because I like porridge consistancy) in twice their volume of water then cook them for 1.5mins add the egg whites and cinamon and nuke again for 30seconds to warm them through and thicken the mix then add in vanilla protein powder and maple flavoured syrup.

I've cooked them together in the microwave before but I normally cook them on the stove. I find I need to add lots of water to cook the oats well, and to help stop it from sticking to the bottom of the pan if I make it on the stove.
I usually add 1/2 scoop chocolate whey protein into mine after cooking, along with some cinnamon

I put the egg whites and oatmeal together in the same bowl, add some splenda and cinnamon, give it a stir and then put it in the microwave on high for about 4 mins.
Tastes great!!
