Ronnie Coleman....honestly i can't watch another bb movie and be impressed after i watched Cost of Redemption. the things i saw in the movie totally changed my perspective on everything...now i compare everything to COR. well that's strong but Ronnie did so and so...I vote Coleman

Surprised no one mentioned Svend Karlson, WSM 2001, he earned a pro card in 93 I believe. He dominated powerlifting and strongman, as well as becoming a pro bb'er.
Anyone know if Pudzianowski earned his pro card? i know he did some bb'ing comps.Last edited by Biggoals2bdone; 05-20-2008 at 10:21 AM. Reason: forgot to mention something.

I chose Ronnie. Reason for this is because not only is his videos hard to compare to any other, actually its impossible with my view and im very big on bodybuilding AND powerlifting and he is down right the most insane guy, atleast in his training videos. Because not only does he deadlift 800x2, db bench 200x12 and squat 800x2..he does it BEFORE the rest of his workout and lifts damn heavy the rest of it PLUS lifting all that damn weight. Its not like he deadlifted 800 in a comptition he done it for a double then went to bent rows and done 495 for a set of 8..a t-bar rows..DAMn no need to mention those.
and his squat vid..he squatted 800 for a double..AFTER doing sets with heavy ass weights, same with deadlift. He didnt warm up to them..He still squatted higher reps and heavy ass weight all the way..Then he went and leg pressed 2300 lbs right after an 800lb squat in that video..doesnt get any more sick than that.
I think if Ronnie had a pro powerlifting trainer the day he done 800 for a double, and the trainer had him warm up properly and went for a max then he oculd have gotten atleast 900, and same for squat.Team Norton

Platz squatted 525 not 500 in that clip, and that clip was years after his peak (the clip is from 92 or 93, his peak was 85-86). Platz is just below 200 lbs in that clip.
His all time best lifts are 635 for 15 in 1986 (for 12 in 85), 38 reps with 405 lbs and a single (without specific 1 rm training) with 775 lbs, rock bottom like the rest, and without a suit (or a very early, primite one, and definitely no knee wraps). Oh and this 1rm was also done way after his peak, and NOT in 85-86.
Platz was the perfect squatter. Short femurs, low center of gravity, coupled with leg genetics from hel - probably the primary factor. To argue that R.C. had stronger legs is definitely not in touch with reality.
Ronnie is all round though probably one if not the strongest, especially on pulling/rowing movements (and IMO not on presses).Last edited by SSK1903; 05-20-2008 at 12:26 PM.

Ronnie's 800x2 is a powerlifting squat with a suit and knee wraps and not below parallel.
Tom's 775x1 was an olympic squat with an old, primitive suit, no knee wraps, far below parallel and without specific 1rm training (basically ever, wherewas R.C. has a PL background).
See my post above - in terms of legs there is no comparison between the above. Platz takes the cake.
No matter how much a beast R.C. was he doesn't compare with tom in the leg strength department - tom's genetics win.http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=112301641&page=3

Also, I don't see why Bertil Fox should be on the list. Yes, he was strong. Benched 500 for a few reps IIRC. But I am not aware of any other noteworthy feats. same with platz - great leg and DL strength, and did inclines with 180s for 5-6 reps - but still, compared to the rest?

No problem.
Interesting discussion.
We have to consider also: do we go straight by displayed, actual factual strength - or do we take into account the changed drug regimens? a 300 lbs bodybuilder is generally gonna be a lot stronger than a 220 lbs bodybuilder...http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=112301641&page=3
