Rest-Pause = Overtraining?

I was reading a few articles on how I could mix some stuff up with my bench press, so I looked up a few high intense techniques and found an article on rest-pause sets. So I decided that I would try it today, being that it is the only day I'll get chest in this week. Here's what the workout was...

Warmup: Shoulder cycle for 2 minutes, light chest flies 2x10

**8 sets of 3 of 70 of 85% of my bench press max, resting 30 seconds between each set.

Military Press 3x6

Skulls 1x10,5,10

Incline DB Press 3x6

Now I didn't get to do all of my rest pause set, because the only spotter I had was the guy that was doing the leg press by me and he told me that I was overtraining. So I ended up getting 4 sets of my rest-pause part of my workout in. I've read articles where you're told to do more sets than how I had it in my workout, so how am I overtraining?

I have no idea. Overtraining is a very misused term - it's rare. And one workout probably won't do it.

Overtraining

If someone tells you you're overtraining just by what you're doing at the gym for one set, then that person has no idea what overtraining is and you should never take any advice from that person again. Overtraining is a cumulative fatigue that build up in your body over several days, weeks, or months. If you do too much for your own body, you will eventually overtrain.

There are too many factors for anyone to tell you if you're overtraining by doing rest pause sets. I did rest pause sets for a year or so, and would usually start to overtrain after about 6 weeks. And I was eating lots and lots of food. People who use DC Training continuously use rest pause sets throughout every workout. You are the one who has to learn your body and learn how much it can take. Overtraining is something you need to learn more about so you can prevent it in the future. Start a weight lifting program designed to prevent overtraining so you continually progress! Try the WLC Program or at least read about it to learn more. See signature below.
