What are the safest supplements for a 15 year old to take?

I'm not picking sides, but to a point, he's right. There is such thing as getting too much of certain micronutrients. If you meet all of your vitamin/mineral requirements, you're probably fine without a multi. But, even if you take one on top of a good diet, I don't think the dosage in the multi would cause you any harm.
For one supplement, I would definitely recommend whey first and foremost. After that, creatine, then multi and fish oil caps.
