Left Knee Pain

Ok so I'm not really sure what started the pain. If I were to guess it would be heavy squats with improper form, leaning forward too much. I am working on my form now and won't be doing that anymore.

I noticed the pain maybe about a month ago, and wasn't that bad at first, but I did notice it. I really only noticed it whenever I did 1 legged leg extension, which is rare. It was kind of painful even with lower weight so I didn't really do them. I continued with my squats, dead lift, and lunges though because those didn't seem to bother my knee. I actually did very deep squats with lower weight on monday and that didn't bother it either.

I'm no expert but I'd have to say it doesn't seem very serious, just something that isn't right. I mostly feel the pain during a leg extension type movement. When I am driving my car (manual transmission) and going to push the clutch pedal down. Going up stairs does feel a little odd, but not that bad. Leg curls, squats, dead lift, and every other movement I've tried so far doesn't hurt.

I never jog or run. (Edit: I did go for a run on saturday and that didn't bother my knee, about 3-4 minutes of jogging) My cardio consists of high incline treadmil at a slow/moderate pace, walking. I've read that shoe cushioning is very important ... my gym shoes are so old they have no soles on the bottom anymore lol ... maybe I should get some new ones.

Any questions/ideas ?

Thanks!

Have you ever had a serious injury on your right leg such as a bad knee sprain, ankle sprain etc? Could be a possible compensation issue to where your left knee is being overloaded because the right side doesn't have the confidence to do it's part.

What part of the knee does it hurt?

I have never had pain/injuries on the right side of my body. My left however always has issues. Knee, elbow, shoulder.

On some exercises my right side is a little stronger, but most of that has been cleared up over the passed year or so of lifting.

What kind of compensation issue do you mean exactly though?

Thanks

It's hard to say what part of the knee hurts but I'm going to go with the front at the top, maybe slightly to the left of the middle. It's not really painful, not even mild, but it's there and it feels weird.
