Preparing a contest for work
Well i got an idea last night. To help me reach my goals and to help others reach theirs.
Today i'm going to talk to my boss, to hear if he's willing to sponsor a contest at work. See who can lose the most weight over 2 months, and who can gain the best body over 2 months.
Keto is going to be my main diet, and i'll offer it to anyone who likes the idea of that and want to put on muscle. But i also realize it's not for everyone, so i'm going to offer up a normal low fat diet as well.
Now i have never studied atkins, but i hear it's somewhat like keto, only it just makes you lose weight? someone that can give me a low down on atkins pro's and cons?
also, i have seen a few posts here stating caffeiene and artificial sweetener is bad for ketosis... any true value on that or is it individual?

1) I think you should change the competition to "who can lose a greater %-age of their bodyweight" rather than who can lose the most weight.
Because someone can start off at 500 lbs, and loses 100 (20% bodyweight), or someone can start of at 180 and lose 60 (33% bodyweight).
2) There are many threads about the atkings/keto relationship. Just gotta use the search button
3) Artificial sweetners are an individual thing. They kick some people out of ketosis, and others don't respond to them at all

For the average joe, atkins a great low-carb diet. The biggest difference between the two is the atkins probably more balanced with protein and fat. He never talks about "macros" basically, you're given a list of foods and you can eat off that list however you see fit. He tells you to eat plenty of real butter, moderate amounts of cheese, all the fatty meat you want, etc.

ahh thanks...
just got a hold of his early book, and you are right... nothing precise, just like a small 7 page eating guide. Nothing else.
so it seems that basically it takes a long time for some peole on atkins, to adjust their diet to where it's most effective, while those that calculate a good keto diet, are effective right off the bat...
so basically for my work contest, i should offer keto for those wanting to lift weights during the time, and atkins for those that do not...

maybe i too competitive (or not as nice), but let them get their own advice. tell them what you plan to do (don't preach), but let the games begin.
It will have a bigger impact if you suceed as well
