    Exclamation How much should i squat/bench in order to start on JV football D-Line?

    i need to know how much weight i should max out with in squatting and benching.

    i am at 135 for benching
    and my squatting is terrible because i have osgood schlatter disease in my knees.

    any tips to help me out.

    Different schools have different numbers. The more the better obviously, but overall talent plays more of a factor in starting. Just because you bench or squat alot doesnt mean you will start.

    200, 300 minimum to start JV. but bench and squat arent everything. you need quickness for d line. honestly 135 means your not very strong but dont worry about it much if you dont make it work hard and try again next year im sure you can make varsity next year if you work hard enough.

    200,300 for JV?
    Ask a Var line and those numbers wont be barely that.
    Unless at those good football schools, most schools though, probably not.

    JV..well you've got about 4 months to weight train
    when i was a freshman i benched around 170 but i squatted close to 300
    i wouldnt say i was strong but i was quick and i did pretty good. i averaged about 17 tackles a game and that is with 7-8 minute quarters.

    don;t focus too much on bench bc that's not where your power comes from. do a lot of power cleans, hang cleans, snatches...excercises that involve more than one movement..these movements are where you build your power.
    deadlifts are great too because they use more muscles than any other excerise.
    As long as you work out hard, eat clean, and let your body recover in between workouts, you should be ok.

    if you dont have a workout, i have a football off-season workout that brought my numbers up pretty fast. just let me know.l

    im playing JV for my school this year I bench 240 squat 315 im either playing linebacker or cornerback i have the size and stregnth for Lb but speed and skills for cb

    nothing against anyone in this thread, but theres a lot of schools football coaches who dont even know what parallel squat is- they see theyre players in the weight room squatting 400 halfway down and say good job(this, is my school-then i get criticized for going atg)

    my school won the group 4 nj state champs two years in a row, and i'd say most of the line squats at LEAST 300 which isn't much for a big dude and benches at least 200 x 5

    There is more to being a good football player than lifting X lbs in whatever lift. You should just focus on getting bigger, stronger and more explosive and not get tied up in the numbers. (If you need goals to stay motivated work on improving your powerclean).

    Although it may seem important now, in August the coaches will forget how much you bench and care more about what you can do on the field.
