I don't know much about that one of Arnold's methods, 1983Warrior.
I'm not sure if most of the mental techniques can labeled as "correct" or not. If it works for you then it's correct.
The mind is very complicated and one has to try a lot of different techniques to find what works best for them. We are all "wired" differently.
Have you tried this yet? What were your experiences?

Skip,
Loved the Morning Connection series, thanks for doing it.
Question for you about your MM120 Mp3 from last year. Any changes you would make to the information you gave in it? Do you firmly stand behind the same basics you stated in it? I know you have talked about the raging trends in the nutrition world, IIFYM etc. Any updates you would make given things that you have read/learned since you made it?
Thanks for your time.Lee Priest for President

You're welcome, brother. I'm glad you found value in them.
Is there anything specific you were wondering about. fretslayer?
If you are asking about my thoughts on IIFYM, I can repost my thoughts.
The biggest thing you need to understand about many of the different arguments is that "everyone" seems to have different definitions and beliefs about what they are arguing about. You can have a productive discussion about anything unless you know exactly what the person asking the question definition and beliefs are--and then go from there. There are dozens of ways people describe IIFYM as well as some of these other topics.

Hi Skip,
I have a question about preventing injuries. I am trying to train with as much intensity as possible, but I am concerned about injuring myself. My logic tells me that the harder I train (with correct form) the more likely is it that I hurt myself in some way. Is this correct?
-
12-05-2013, 05:19 AM #9668
Hi 1983Warrior.
No, that's not necessarily true. The harder and more intense you train with good from doesn't necessarily create injuries.
One thing I've noticed over the years is that many injuries occur during warm ups sets and less than all out sets.
Just like with everything in life, everyone needs to calculate their risks when they are training. Risk versus reward.

Hi Skip,
I would like to share some information with you which probably is beneficial.
I got inspired by a man (who have set some Guinness Records) who learned how to consciously raise his body temperature and thus withstand the coldness of being trapped in ice-blocks.
youtube.com/watch?v=xGBj_Yqal6s
This made me believe that I also could learn to stimulate the body to raise its temperature or even build muscles. Ofcourse this takes alot of patience, persistence and willpower.Last edited by 1983Warrior; 12-05-2013 at 11:21 AM.

Hello Skip,
my question for you:
Are you still training Max-Ot style?
I know you've been doing your type of training very similar to Max-Ot but I was wondering if you are still doing it?
I tried max-ot few years ago, and it gave a lot of gains and strength but I had a lot of pain in my joints because of it so I stopped training that way. Now I'm thinking about trying max-ot again.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Greetings

Hi Bokula.
Your challenge was an extremely common one that I've witnessed over the years.
I took the good things about that program and improved upon it with my 25 years of training experience and insight--and all the time and effort I've put into helping people just like you.
I call it Mass Machine Training.
You can check it out at http://www.skiplacour.com.

Hi Skip,
what makes Mass Machine Training better then Max-OT? How do you do cardio?

Hi Skip,
why is a heavy emphasis on protein consumption so important?
I can't imagine a hard training natural bodybuilder needing as much as 40% protein of their total calories...

Through my experience helping hundreds of people all over the world with lower rep schemes training styles, they don't fully understand the muscle overload process and how to take themselves through it. Because of this, several challenges arise:
* They're just doing fewer reps in each set without getting the benefits they think they are.
* "Heavy" training is relative to the person doing the lifting. Their definition of "heavy" isn't heavy enough to get the job done. Again, they're satisfied with doing lower reps because that's what the program calls for.
* The most common challenge (by far) that I heard hundreds of times is the injuries suffered when a person doesn't fully understand the process of lower rep schemes and get INJURED.
I take people through the effective training process not by just outlining them what to do and leave it up to their own interpretation, I have unique mental toughness strategies built into the program (in obvious and not-so-obvious ways) so nothing is left up to chance. They show themselves what they are truly capable of when they go through the process.

The truth of the matter is that both you, me, and most of the people out there trying to build our bodies don't have "lab coats" on and conduct controlled, medical studies.
We have to read all the information that's presented, put on our big boy pants, make a decision based on the information we feel is from a trusted source, and then actually EXECUTE different the theories and methods offered. Among all the differing opinions, you are going to have decide what will work for you--regardless of what me or anyone else says.
Of course, this becomes a challenge when there are so many different opinions offered. I understand that. The reason why there are so many opinions offered is because the answers aren't so clear cut.
Do you ever see message boards, web sites, social media pages with people incessantly arguing that everyone should be able to drive 50 miles per hour and faster in a school zone? Do you see the endless debates with one side calling the other "Bro Drivers" or one other side asking the other "Do you even drive?" No You don't. You don't because it's pretty darn universally accepted that you should drive at a much lower speed in a school zone.
And yes, I am very well aware that at one time most people thought the world was flat.
You have enough information already and you've made your decision. Now, it's time to execute. If you don't have enough information at this point, it's probably better to get it from the people in the lab coats (if that's what you find more credible) or those with experience (if that's what you find more credible). Or, hell, just find someone to agree with your point-of-view and move onto one of the other hundreds of other physical and mental distinctions and strategies that lead to building a better physique.
Debating over the internet isn't going to change the fact that you are going to have to make a decision and execute--although I can see it is very fun and entertaining for many people.

Well, if you think they should eat more than what they think . . . isn't that what you think? Then, you'd have to bump that up . . . and it would be an endless cycle. LOL
That's the challenge when addressing someone's questions. You'd have to know EXACTLY what they currently think--before you can even begin to address the subject.
Most of the arguments on the internet make the assumption that people think a certain way--where there are many differing perceptions of the same thing.
People have differing opinions as to what the "right" amount of protein. I'm sure that if a person thinks they should eat 500 grams of protein a day, eating more than they "think" might not be the BEST answer FOR THEM.

Hi Skip,
about 10 years ago I discovered your website where you recommended some books which have changed my life to the better. I remember that you inspired me to believe that I could achieve way more then I thought was possible. Now in retrospect I see that my expectations were not meaningless dreams. Your achievements are remarkable, and your way of "going the extra mile" I believe makes people want to help you back.
Late Zig Ziglar and Napoleon Hill are some of the many self-help authors I read thanks to you.
I certainly appreciate that they wanted to inspire others to believe in God.Last edited by 1983Warrior; 12-06-2013 at 12:15 PM.

Hey Warrior I can help with this one. There is no good enough because you can always do better. It is in our nature to desire a higher level than the one we are at. If you strive to improve your mind-muscle connection every workout you will be doing the BEST you can do. If you are aware of the mind-muscle connection and seeking to improve it you are winning.
Your body is your most prized possession.

Perfect answer, Amoney1986.
I would also add that you can't make matters of the mind "black and white" concrete answer as everyone's head is "wired" differently. What works for one person may or may not work for another.
