    Football and working out- recomendations?

Hi guys ive been cutting for the last few weeks after a winter bulk. Now i have football 3 hours 3 times a week. Hard practices- lots of hitting and running. I have 1 season of that than another season of football 5 times a week for 2:30 hours for one season. By the time I'm done football and able to work out 5+ times a week again it will be the end of fall. I'm just wonder what lifting if any I should be doing during my football seasons?

    Thanks in advance.

i remember reading this in the PL section under programs, designed for ppl who do sports and stuff.. here's the post:

    "from IM:

basically designed for those who have other physical activities to do (football, etc.) and still want to get some good weight training in.

2-3 days rest between sessions, all work sets to/near failure

    Day One
    Press - warm-up: x5, x3 - work: x6
    Power Clean - warm-up: x5, x3 - work: x5
    Deadlift - warm-up: x5, x3 - work: x8
    Lat Pulldown (supinated grip) - 1x12, 1x6
    Shrug - 1x10, 1x8
    Manual neck, forearm work

    Day Two
    Squat - warm-up: x10, x5, x1 - work: x20
    Bench Press - warm-up: x5, x3 - work: x6
    Power Row - 1x10, 1x6
    Shrug - 1x10, 1x8
    Curl - 1x10, 1x6
    Manual neck, forearm work

although i haven't tried this program yet, i'd guess that it would be best suited for someone who already has a good amount of weight training experience, as it seems this program will be best for maintaining strength, and maybe not for gaining a whole lot.

if anyone tries this program out, please let me know how it works out for you"
    6' 215 lbs

    CURRENT (all estimated)/GOAL

    Bench: 390+/405
    Squat: 430ish/500
    Deadlift: 450ish/600

I'm a runningback for college... and I just bulked up to about 190, and from there just did strength training, look for programs, try to hit 8 reps every set til you bulk up to the desired weight, then strength train.

weird that you can have football practice in spring with pads

they don't let us do that after football season is over, we have to go all winter, all spring, all summer without pads or even helmets

once 3 weeks before season starts we can start using pads again

I'm playing two different teams- one during the summer and one school ball. Thanks for the help guys. I don't have that much experience in lifting or football, just started football last year and lifting in October. I have practice Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday so I guess I'll lift Wensday and Sunday, sound good?

    Thanks again!

Damn thats it? I'm jealous of your schedule for football, ours is a lot longer
I'd rather be dead then average.

In Canada we can't play football from November to march there is snow out. As for strength class it was full this year but I'll hopefully get in next year.
