ACE personal training cert study help

    Hi everyone
First time here on bodybuilding.com so short story.
About 4 years ago I was and still am 5'7" but back then I was 240lbs so I decided to drop it.
In 8 months I lost 80lbs and then started lifting and running.
Now I am 26 165lbs 11% BF and in excellent shape.

So about ACE cert, I got it a year ago as I love excercise now it's my life and I want to help others.
But I am having the hardest time studying the material I don't learn as well from reading as I do actually performing the task.
I guess I'm just asking for pointers as I have had the books a year now and feel pretty disappointed in myself.

A few things I did to get me over the hump and to pass my test. Go to the ACE website and download the exam content outline. From there everything that says you must have knowledge of, I would write it down. Now go through the book and answer those sections and study that. If you have access to the ACE Academy online, take the practice tests at the end, it will then tell you by domain your week points. Focus on those areas. You should also check out quizlet, they have a ton of information on each chapter in the ACE manual already created. These are like flash cards online that at one click of a button you can turn it into a game or mini test.

The exam is not hard... you'll pass.

The ACE exam is not going to be a s difficult as you may fear. Don't think of it has a textbook that you need to read for school because those old inhibitors will creep back. Think of the ACE manual as a users manual. It's only purpose is to guide you through the process. Try to read it and not study it. This works for those who have a difficult time with exams. There's something that reading does to relax the mind that studying and note taking doesn't. You already know a lot, you may not be as sharp on the technical aspects of fitness so if you read the book a couple of times (proving you have that type of time) you may be surprised with how much you are absorbing without really knowing that you are. If while taking the exam, you feel nervous or doubtful, just revert back to your own understanding of fitness and you can reason your way passed a lot of questions. You'll do fine, don't worry.
