Why once a week?

In personal fitness my teacher said after 72 hours of rest you start to lose muscle mass. So why do most ppl do each bodypart once a week?

If you seriously have a killer workout, you'll be sore for like 4 days anyway, and then 2 days of fatigue healing, 1 day of overall bodily rest, then the next time you lift you'll have that area completely and utterly healed and you can destroy it to the max all over again.

Teacher is retard x3.

After 72 hours if you juiced your muscles full of protein and carbs you could probably push them again to lift, but if you did that kind of **** too much your muscles would adapt and you'd hit a plateau or possibly get weaker from working a muscle too much.

detraining doesn't occur until like 12 days of rest... I think your teacher ment the muscle isn't fully recovered until 72 hours, otherwise he's talking out his ass.
