Buying new pistol
OK guy, I posted this in the misc forum already but I was hoping to get some more mature and educated answers here.
I am looking to get a conceal permit and a pistol. I am looking at the Sig Sauer P250 because it has great customization options and you can fit it to fire 9mm, sig .357, .40, and .45 soon.
I want a compact, 9mm or .40cal clip fed, double action for at least the first shot(this is a must), and to be easy to field strip.

Here is the Sig Sauer P250.
Price range is up to 750 for the pistol.

Sig is an excellent choice. As would be any number of other brands. I would recommend hitting the range and renting as many different kinds as you can. I have a CZ P01 in 9mm that I absolutely love. CZ is just coming out with the P06, which looks just like the P01 but in .40. Not sure if it has the same setup, but the P01 has a decocker which allows the first shot to be double action. But if you're going to use it for concealed carry, you have to practice that first shot quite a bit.
Any special reason that you want double action as your first shot? I just picked up a S&W M&P .40 compact, no decocker, no safety. Slightly smaller grip makes concealed carry effortless. After carrying a decocked Bersa and a decocked CZ, I decided I wanted the same trigger pull on all my shots.

I just bought a CZ 75b in 9mm and I love it. It's extremely accurate.

I too was looking at getting a P250 for the same reasons you are. I didn't get a chance to fire it but it felt great in my hands. $750 is a lot, the store I was at wanted $550 for that model and $650 for the 2-tone. Also look up CDNN Investments and see if they have any for cheaper. Also don't rule out Rugers.

lulz. i saw that too. SS 88. eighth letter of the alphabet is H. HH=Heil Hitler. also commonly seen as 14/88 referring to the fourteen words. Fourteen words="We must secure the existence of our people and a future for White children." or "Because the beauty of the White Aryan woman must not perish from the earth." depending on who you ask. The SS part should be pretty apparent. Du Hurensohn. Meine ganze Familie kommt aus Deutschland, und ich bin stolz auf meine Familienverhaeltnisse, aber ich bin kein Nazi. Ich habe eine Gehirn.

The main reason not to buy a Glock isn't where they're made, but that they are ****ty little plastic toy guns, and only kids and cops have them. Sig is a much better choice, especially for those who have a job.

The Tenifer finish on a Glock is the third and final hardening process. It is 0.05 millimeters thick and produces a 64 Rockwell C (diamond cone) hardness rating via a 500 ?C nitride bath. The final matte, non-glare finish meets or exceeds stainless steel specifications, is 85% more corrosion resistant than a hard chrome finish, and is 99.9% salt-water corrosion resistant. After the Tenifer process, a black Parkerized finish is applied and the slide is protected even if the finish were to wear off.
Plastics and polymers are capable of being much more durable than steel. Just because it is not metal does not mean it is crappy. That being said, i prefer shooting 1911s to glocks.

I guess that's why almost every major manufacturer is making a polymer line.

You can usually have a good, grown-up discussion about guns, but there's always some Glock freak that's a little crybaby, and thinks that cheap piece of plastic is the best thing out there.
I had a Glock .40 S&W for years, but it was so unreliable with hollow points, jamming and stovepiping constantly, that I pretty much kept it in the box. Gladly traded it even for a Smith .357.
Sounds like it was defective or you were limp wristin'.

HK makes combat tupperware as well. Two in chest with a Glock means just as dead.

I prefer a 1911 above all else. Nothing shoots like a nice 1911. The trigger pull is beautiful. I could never get used to Glocks triggers. Sigs are good guns to but I hate DA/SA trigger pulls.
You cant call Glocks crappy pistols they are one of the best around. Period. I just dont prefer them.
Everyone who is anyone uses a 1911 and there is a reason for it. There I said it.
