the reason the palms and feet were lighter is because they really dont come in direct contact with the sun.

Anyway, the reason why WE ALL have lighter skin on the palms of our hands is because that area of our hands contains no melanocytes. These are cells that allow pigment to form. Hope that answer you're question!
