Tall Skinny Guy with a Gut. What to do?
I need some help. I'm 6'1" and roughly 168lbs. I'm pretty bony everywhere except my gut. Of course one of my goals is to lose the gut, but I would also like to put on some size. The size and definition I picture for myself is along the lines of a featherweight boxer type of build.
I'm pretty much at a loss, so any help would be appreciated. What type of diet, workouts, amount of cardio etc. I haven't got a clue. I would be willing to workout 3-5 days a week for 30-45 mins at a time.
Thanks in advance.

Basically what everybody is saying is true. keep your diet clean, and be consistent with your workouts and you're well on your way.

Should Rippetoe's be done exclusively with barbells or is it ok if I use dumbbells instead?

You'll be able to use more weight with barbells, so to make the most of your starting gains, go with barbells. If you have any other specific Rippetoe questions, you can find answers all over this forum, especially in the Rippetoe's sticky.
