what do you all feel about burning a few pounds using swimming? i injured my knee and so cant really run for a while.
some internet articles say that swimming in cold water increases appetite and some people actually gain a few pounds but i eat fairly clean and keep a nutrition log so i am confident i can avoid that.
All I know is, I swam laps for 20 minutes the other day, and got a complete body workout I don't know how fast it burns calories, but in terms of getting your whole body in shape w/o putting pressure on joints, swimming can't be beat.
Yeah, swimming will make you hungry as a mofo. It's a great workout, but there is something about being immersed in water for extended periods of time that makes you hungry as a mofo.
as far as a cardio workout... like someone above said, anything that gets you huffing and puffing and gets your blood flowing the same as running would do the trick. You'll probably get a nice broad/ v-tapered look as well.
