    Does calories count with HITT?

Its been a really long time since I posted. I got pregnant in January and I had a miscarriage in the beginning of April. I gained 8 lbs and before I get preggo again, I need to loose this weight in a month or two. So.. I am working out almost everyday. 3 days of HITT/3 weight trainning/high reps/low weight and on two other days I am just doing normal cardio. I wear a heart monitor and so I can see my calories burned. So today I did HITT this morning and I only burned 200 calories for 20 minutes. So does calories count when working out or do we get more of a benefit afterwards such as burning more calories the rest of the day.

    Thanks ladies!!

Definitely burn more after than during. Depending on how much muscle mass you have also.

forget the calorie counters, they are COMPLETELY inaccurate! There is no way to universally determine the amount of calories an athlete burns during a cardio session.

If I were you I'd keep the weight lifting, do cardio only 3x a week, and track your diet to keep it in check. Do not worry about the 8 pounds. Let your body recover from the miscarriage and prep yourself for getting pregnant again. Your body does not need to be overly stressed right now. Take your time.

My sympathies on the miscarriage. I hope your next pregnancy is flawless.

I watched a Jenny Lynn training video recently and something her leg trainer, Charles Glass, has her do is high rep weights in order to deplete all of her glycogen in her muscles, and then she does "slow" cardio immediately afterwards and without muscle glycogen she is instead burning body fat. I haven't tried this yet as I am beat after lifting but by switching to high reps it shouldn't be THAT bad... We'll see...
