Why do some of you dye your hair or wear large amounts of makeup?
Allot of girls at my university seem to have an obsession with both, I personally think they would look allot more attractive if they cut significantly back on this stuff, but I am curious as to hows the ones actually using these products feel.

Some women just like different hair color or prefer covering grey, and like what they look like with makeup.
I often dye my hair red because I like how it looks, I have a fiery personality so the red tends to suit me better, and simply because it's fun
I like makeup because it is almost a meditation to apply, I like how it highlights my features and how the colors are so versatile. But- I don't wear excessive amounts of it either The one thing I MUST have is lipstick, though- I look dead without it as my lips are SO pale~If it's to be, it's up to me~

I don't dye my hair but I do wear lots of makeup. I feel it makes me look more attractive. I don't wear the liquid foundation but I wear a lot of black eyeliner and eyeshadow. I know that my husband preferrs how I look with all my makeup on and if I'm running late and don't have time to apply my makeup before school or work, people will ask me all day long "what's wrong, you look so tired." That's an indicator to me that I need it!

i compulsively change my hair (i'm itching for a new cut and color right now) because i just get BORED with what's on top of my head. a new haircut/color make me feel new and fresh and it's exciting. until the bangs are in that awkward in between phase and the roots start showing...
can't answer the makeup question, i wear very little, even going out or on stage.

I wish I had time to put on make up or fix my hair! I wash and go (if that). Sometimes it's just go.
I would change my hair color everyday if I could. It's fun being a red head one day and a blond the next BUT I'd rather have healthy hair so I don't do it.
Asking us why we do it is like asking us why we shave our legs or wear high heels that kill our feet....we just do!

I guess I understand the concept of hair dying but it just feels to me that everyone will get gray hair eventually, its not something to be ashamed about.
When I see a 50 year old female who continues to dye her hair bleach blond I personally think it looks horrible - In my personal opinion she would look allot better if she had gray hair, that is the natural progression.

Well it boils down to personal preference I guess, I only shave my beard once a month and let everything else grow, I prefer bushy to shaved when it comes to females - I don't wanna feel like I am ****ing a big breasted 12 year old :O.
I don't think hair color has much effect on a persons appearance or attractiveness.
I see allot of females trying to fight a loseing battle when it comes to aging, its just something everyone has to accept, instead of trying to look like their 20 they need to spend more time trying to be healthy at their current age and less time with the millions of cosmetics that are pushed off onto them.
To the girl going gray at 21 - I wouldn't worry about it - theirs allot worse things, going bald I could see as an issue but if its only hair color then I don't see how it would have a negative effect, it just makes you more unique.

i dye my hair to try something different and to play with my look
and i die it a NATURAL shade
I have to admit that i DEPLORE seeing women my skin tone die their hair PLATINUM and super-sonic sunshine blonde
then top it off with piercing blue contacts.
I mean seriously....i understand changing it up having fun but lets be real they look like aliens.
but yeah, if its a nice, flattering hair color and the makeup is fresh and compliments the girl/woman i don't see anything wrong with that. i don't perceive it as an insecurity. What's wrong with trying new (flattering) looks out?The member formally known as LadyMystique80

Hahaha....yea that's true, going bald would be a lot worse For the record, I dye my hair my natural color, nothing crazy. Sometimes I consider leaving it alone, but then when I start to see the greys it just brings me in touch with my mortality, and nobody likes that. But hey maybe some day I'll take your advice, I do like being considered unique.
