    How to microwave sweet potato??

I got one wrapped in plastic and microwaved like the instructions said, and it taste good. But what about the normal, fresh ones? I tried 4 mins one side, then flipping, and it came out all dry.

Wrap it tightly in saran wrap, it'll have the same effect as the plastic one you bought, and it's cheaper. I find about a minute/oz. of sp works well, but my microwave sucks so I dunno.

This gives you a nice soft oven-like texture:

Poke holes all around and microwave for one and a half minutes on both sides. Immediately remove sweet potato and wrap in foil and let sit for five minutes. This also works well for potatoes.
I won't stop until I conquer my body and mind.

Poke some holes in it, lay it on a paper towel, nuke it for 3 minutes. Flip it, nuke it for about another 2-3 minutes. then ,enjoy.

That has to depend on the microwave as well as size, my dorm room issue microwave would do nothing in 3 mins.

OP, it seems as if every suggestion made to you, you question...

the real answer is, it depends upon YOUR preference(of cook time), and the power of your microwave, as well as the size of your Sweet Potato.
Bottom line is, just make sure that you cook it for AT LEAST 2 1/2 min per side, with some holes, on a plate, towel, etc....then, once you take it out, you can add more time, if youd like...

remember, its better to under-cook, rather than over-cook, because you can always add more time, but you can never rewind time, if you over-cook it, and dry it out/screw up.

    ^^Comes out dry

Ive done this a thousand times and its fine every time:

Cut up raw sweet potato into wedges and put them in a pyrex jug with hot water from the tap in it (make sure level of potato & water is <2/3 of jug). Cover jug with a small plate or similar (steam should be able to escape from spout stil)

Microwave on high for about 6-8 minutes depending on power

Will be cooked and moist. I sometimes then throw the wedges on the BBQ or in the foreman to crisp them, but you dont have to.

Smother in BBQ sauce and enjoy

    Smile sweet potato lover

Do not use plastic, it will add phytoestrogen to your potato, avoid microwaving plastic period!!
Anyways, I fork the potato, no joke, 1 potato 6 mins, 3 potatos 12-14 mins, open up, use smart balance butter if you like, it has flax oil in it and add some cinnamon....me it is sweet enough to eat plain....love sweet potatoes!!!

    Here is an alternative:

Bake a batch of sweet potatoes, wrap in tinfoil/plastic rap and freeze. Thaw in microwave when needed. Thaws very fast do to density and high water content and tastes as if fresh from oven. Just be sure to cool completely and not over cook them in the oven. I usually make an effort to slightly under cook them as it usually cooks a little in the microwave. Seems like a lot of work but I think its well worth it.

    I miss sweet potatoes
