interesting fact
Eating SLOW digesting protiens RIGHT before bed is crucial for serious hard gainers.
Also.... Eating FAST digesting protiens RIGHT after you wake up is crucial as well.
Why?
Because during your 9 hours of sleep your fasting for 9 hours straight while during the day your use to eating every 3-4 hours whether that be a meal or a small snack. During this fasting period you are losing muscle significantly. When your body doesnt intake food it eats away at your muscles instead. First thing in the morning drink a whey protein shake and you will have better focus throughout the day as well as putting an end to the counter anabolism.

Actually a combination of fast/slow digesting protein in the morning is more desirable than JUST fast.
But.. yeah. True enough for the most part. And most people know slow-digesting before bed, but don't consider it when waking up.

if you want to get technical, only fast protein is desired immediately upon waking, follow by a high protein meal about 30 minutes later.

Yeah that's not a feasible option for most people though.. unless it's a day off and you don't have to be anywhere or do anything.

I find that right when I wake up I have a whey protein shake with water, then shower, then make breakfast, and no more time spent really

Yeah I can't really do that.. I wake up, eat, clean up and leave. I only SPEND 30 minutes tops getting ready in the morning.. some mornings less than that.

muscle during sleep is extremely overated. A pre-bed meal is definately important, but to say you lose significant muscle overnight is stupid.
The your liver and fat tissues store energy for a reason: because the body wants to avoid using muscle for energy...

??? is that why your body breaks down muscle before fat? no. With nothing to digest, your body will look at protein storage from your muscles before fat. I do agree with you though that its not a huge deal to have protein before bed

The body doesn't prefer prefer for energy over fat!! And yeah you don't lose muscle mass overnight, but you are certainly using muscle protein for energy during the night.
Lets get something straight. When you are in a fasted state your bodies 2 main sources of energy are liver glycogen (for the brain and nothing else) and FFA's (for the rest of the body's functions). Your body wants to feed the brain its precious glucose and give the fat to the rest of the body.
But, these aren't the only sources we will get our energy from. A small portion will come from Gluconeogenesis(at least during a short fast, like an overnight fast)... when you break down triglycerides you get FFA's and glycerol. FFA's are used by the body and glycerol is sent to the liver to be converted into glucose via gluconeogenesis. Second your body breaks down alanine in the muscle because of a rising level of cortisol... if cortisol were super high then this would be much more pronounced... so as the fasting continues more and more alanine is used. Alanine gets sent to liver and converted into glucose via gluoneogenesis.

For the majority of bodily functions during a fast you will use stored fats as energy. But, in situations where the body needs glucose(brain function mostly) the body will breakdown muscle tissue to produce it (since fats cannot be made in glucose). However, before muscles are broken down for glucose, their glycogen stores as well as the liver's glycogen stores must be depleted. Depending on the activity you do this depletion can take over 1-2 days. Breakdown of both muscle and fat tissue occurs simultaneously during a prolonged fast, but fat is the perfered source for non-intense/non-brain bodily functions. But the 8hours overnight isn't time without food for serious muscle breakdown to occur.
hmmm vipersg has a much better post, very imformative some of my weak reps to him

Sir, will masturbating affect my gains? What if I do it for five hours in a row and miss a forearms workout? Is it basically the same as long as I switch it up?
