That law of thermodynamics which states matter cannot be created or destroyed is good one. From my point of view it says to me that the matter that lead to the big bang had always existed and not been created. Thus no God needed.
The theist will always say God created that law and is not subject to it blah blah blah. So it (matter) cannot be created on it own and only this God can do it."The invisible and the non-existent look very much alike" - Delos McKown
"Suppose there was an intelligence, vast and unknowable. Suppose it lit the big bang, suppose it wrote the laws of physics, and has been subtly moulding the universe for 14 billion years. Now keep a straight face and tell me that it cares where you stick your dick."

I use it as an argument against God all the time and also to say that the universe has always existed (but in a different form).
It IS eternal.
Also, if string theory is correct, then it is DEFINITELY eternal.
It's just in a constant changing mode (and no, it did require anything to set it in motion).

I believe in God. I could care a less if you do or don't. That's a problem between you and God. If you don't believe, that's a choice you have made and it's your business.
Why is it that some atheists get so pissed about believers in God? It seems that the natural attitude would be indifference or maybe even consider us Christians as cheap entertainment.

I'm not a target. I just expressed a perspective. That's the point of a board. To tell me to sit down and shut the F up is the most disrespectful thing that has ever been said to me on a board.
You are too rude to be taken seriously.

Oh hai there guiz
On the individual:
His responses grow intelligent, or gain meaning, simply because he lives and acts in a medium of accepted meanings and values. Through social intercourse, through sharing in the activities embodying beliefs, he gradually acquires a mind of his own. The conception of mind as a purely isolated possession of the self is at the very antipodes of the truth.
- John Dewey

Coop: It isn't a choice to lack belief in God any more than it is to lack belief in flying unicorns.

Anyone read Not the Impossible Faith: Why Christianity Didn't Need a Miracle to Succeed by Richard Carrier? It seems pretty interesting considering that a big part of the faith of modern-day Christians who accept science and reasoning yet make the leap of faith towards Christianity as a result of the thought that the only way Christianity could get started and flourish would be if the story of Christ was actually true.

I told you to do no such thing! In fact, I didn't tell you to do anything. You can ask anyone here, I'm probably one of the least rude people here. If you think that is rude, you are thin skinned and should reconsider your decision to post in R/P.
