Running with weights

I recently just started doing this running around my basement (huuge unfinished basement, can do laps) while carrying 10lb dumbells. I looked up info on this after i thought of this and "experts" believe this puts a lot of stress on your joints. Personally, I think its bull**** but what does the teen section think?

if your basement is small, the constant turning corners could put stress on your joints

I heard that general running is supposed to put stress on your joints, which means everything does...

why run with weights? just out of interest?

I sometimes put weights in a backpack and run up stairs but it's not great for your back.

What I figured with running with weights is I'd get excercise in both my upper and lower body (cardio is cardio yes, but with this I've noticed i feel the burn far faster in my arms than my legs) and I could possibly cut down on time in the morning since I need to make slightly more of an effort to run carrying an extra 20lbs.

Thought it was worth a shot

running while holding weights in your hands doesnt really give much resistance and your arms will tire out before your legs, its way better to put some weights in a back pack and go hiking or running

I ran cross country in high school and every one in a while our coach would have us wear ankle weights of a weightd vest. We would run with likght DB's in our hands sometimes, but that was just to strengthen form and muscle memory to pump your arms faster. I don't think that running with weights will do much for you.

depends on the mission bro, basic training our drill sgts hated us so we had to carry 70 pound ruck and the IBA is about 20-30 pounds depending on if you have all of the IBA together.

oh and that was a 15k ruck sack march. it sucks playing catch up. the acordian effect
