I hate veggies.
The only veggies I can willingly eat are potatoes and tomato sauce (that's not even a veggie, I'm aware). I really just can't stand the taste of vegetables. It's not just the taste, it's also the texture or something. I've been like this since I was a kid. I gag on them and it's just toture for me to eat them. I thought I would grow out of this, but I still can't bring myself to eat them.
Any suggestions on how I can incorporate veggies into my diet without tasting them? Maybe in a shake with some fruit or something? (also, which veggies would be best for something like this? less tasting ones?)
Thanks a bunch!

if you make them into a shake you are going to taste them more because the flavour will be more concentrated
you need to eat your veggies - sorry (doesn't matter how you get them in)

puree them w/silken tofu-- (i get mori nu Light), it makes a mean spinach dip.
1 pkg frozen spinach (thawed) + 1/2 package (6 oz) tofu + salt + pepper + garlic and onion = deliciousness.
bake em into healthy treats-- i think there's a book by jessica seinfeld that talks abut incorporating veggies into non-veg foods for kids (which I don't agree with as I think kids should be introduced to veg as a good thing by themselves, but w/e), you could look that up
There are examples of beans/spinach other things in brownies, cakes, mac n cheese, etc.
I hope someday you like veggies, i think they are delicious!
I hope this helped a little

I am not sure if this is the same book Dani is referring to but it's called Deceptively Delicious. My sister got it to try to get her kids to eat their veggies. I ate some of the mac and cheese she made from this book and yum!!! I loved it!
Have you ever tried Green Giant broccoli and cheese?? It may not be the cleanest form of veggies but I dont think the cheese hurts you too much.

Do you eat salad?
And, can you tolerate broccoli or green beans?
I know quite a few people that don't like most veggies but (for some reason) they can tolerate those things if I prepare them with a lot of added flavors, seasoning, or sauces.

Nope; no salads, broccoli or green beans. I don't think I eat anything green, now that I think of it. What seasoning & sauces do you use? Actually, now that I think of it, I eat spinich when it's mixed in lasagne.

I've made a plan to go pick up this book first thing tomorrow! & No, I've never tried that, but maybe I will... What's the difference between Green Giant broccoli and normal broccoli?

it's not that it's green giant broccoli, it's just a bag of frozen broccoli with cubes of cheese in it.
If you can't handle green veggies, I hope you take a good multivitamin as that is where you can get most of your folic acid and magnesium from.

You can always throw thawed frozen spinach into your eggs (that stuff blends into just about anything and goes down really easy )
You also might try chopping various veggies (experiment to find what you prefer) and mixing it into 99% fat free ground chicken with some spices, maybe a little tomato sauce (since you do like that) and seeing just what you can get away with hiding Bell peppers are pretty easy to hide in ground meat... If you cook broccoli until it's really soft and puree it in the food processor it works great too...

WOW! Someone even pickier than me - I'm impressed (and sympathetic)! All these suggestions sound good to me. I have come to love broccoli & cheese (and could hardly get the broccoli down a few months ago)... in fact, I have begun to develop a taste for broccoli, even without cheese, now. I find that if you steam fresh broccoli and mix it with some whole grain pasta or brown rice, some kind of lean meat, and a LITTLE Italian dressing or light Teriyaki sauce (or something you like) you barely even taste it.
Also, I've never been one to eat spinach, but I recently started buying fresh baby spinach and chopping it up as tiny as I can and hiding it in my omelets, spaghetti sauce, whatever I can think of. It's not bad.
I personally don't like V8 juice, but my husband bought me the tiny cans this week, so I'm going to try to get one down every day... I add pepper to it, it helps a little.
Also, I am planning to pick up some GREEN MAGMA pills... a mineral supplement I just read about in an article on this website about supplements (thanks, Icequeen!) and some VITATECH multivitamins.
Hope this helps.

this is great, I am not amused with the veggies as well, and generally stick to the easy stables: green salad and carrots. I know I need to add more to my day, it's just so hard cause they don't taste good! Does anyone use those microwave bags? I wonder if they work well without making the veggies wilty.

Try buying vege green powder
It tastes awful. ****ing terrible. Lol
But you can mix it w an ounce of cold water and do it like a shot.
Orange juice chaser.
Honestly. So nasty. But its quick, easy and something like 6 servings of vegetables per shot.
That way you don't have to sit and eat a meal of spinach when you hate the taste and texture.
Goodluck.

V8 Infusion is the fruit juice, it comes in lots of yummy flavors like Blueberry and Pomegranate, Tropical Orange, Mango and Peach and Acai. Each 8 oz. glass counts for one serving of fruit AND one serving of veggies. I love it.

I am so burnt on salad I can't really eat it anymore.
So instead I just eat spinach soup that is homemade full of all the green vitamins in salad but tastes like heaven (and it's healthy).

Yeah, I'm anaemic so I take an iron supplement already. Any suggestions on a good multivitamin? & would you happen to know if you can take a multivitamin in conjunction with an iron supplement? (Or would that make it too much?)

SWEET! Something that's quick & easy! & Something that I won't have to endure the taste of for too long.. haha. I am definately going to try this out. Where do you get this 'vege green powder' from? Just the grocery store?

That's good to know. Except, I don't like V8 juice... But maybe I'll start forcing myself to drink it. It's a lot more endurable than actual veggies, lol.

ive always hated vegetables too, i have this fruit and veg drink and its like these little satchets u just mix with water, it tastes really nice! just like a tropical squash drink.
its made by a company called ultralife.
its got like 50 vital nutrients in it, its probably just as good as actually eating fruit and veg.
and yeah it tastes nice so i just have one of them everyday and try and eat loads of carbs and protein.

Have you tried different ways of making them? My husband was a lot like you but he loved when I mix lean ground turkey and spinach and my asparagus which I bake until it is crunchy with olive oil and sea salt. There are many different ways of making veggies so they taist very different and have different textures. You should also try the book Deceptively Delicious.. You cant even taist the veggies in most of the recipes. Good luck.

If the iron supplement is too much, you don't need to take it every day, you can take it every other day. Minerals can get stored unlike vitamins.
I really like the NOW Special Two multivitamin.
