Should i be doing dumbbell press and flys?
Hi everyone. So i've been doing different variations of the barbell bench press for a few weeks. Juts barbell bench press and i've seen some results. I was wondering if i should incoorporate dumbbell press and flys as well. As it stands, i do 3x8 reps usually failing on 3rd, sometimes at end of second set. I do some push ups to warm up the chest then 3x8 incl, 3x8 incl again, 3x8 flat, 3x8 decline. And that's it. What do you all think?

If you haven't been incorporating any type of stretch overload exercise for chest, then flyes would be a good addition.
Are you doing any incline work in addition here? Might choose incline dumbell possibly.

If you're new to it, keep at the Barbell bench as long as you're getting results... for that matter even if you're not new to bodybuilding, if it keeps working, keep doing it, you start to plateau, or just get bored, throw in some dumbbell work.

To in10city: I do 3 sets of incl barbell press, then rest a bit, then do another 3 sets usually with a lil less weight.

Lots of ways to skin the cat ... Flyes would still be a good addition... take a look at what general area of your chest needs work and hit that with dumbells presses and/or flyes ...

if i were you i would drop the second set of 3x8 inclines that you do and replace it with some sort of fly movement. it doesn't have to come necessarily at the same point in the workout, but i think there is a lot of pressing in your workout and you might be better served to throw some flyes in to replace one of the inclines.
