Should I be worried? (a click in my shoulder)

I was just doing a series of three sets (12, 10, then 8 reps) of lateral arm raises with 5lb dumbells. I kept hearing a click from my left shoulder. It doesn't hurt, but I don't know what the click is.

Should I be worried? Is it just the tendon or ligament not used to stretching? I don't want to hurt myself - today's just my first day lifting.

My shoulder has always clicked so I guess it's something I'm used to

if your shoulder has never clicked before be careful and take note which exercise it happens with and do them with a lighter weight maybe

take a fish oil supp to help with joint care

    Was/Is it painful?

I wouldn't worry about it if it's not painful or uncomfortable. If it is uncomfortable, or painful, I'd hold off and start with a lighter weight or see a physician.

My right shoulder clicks too. It has clicked less as I've trained shoulders more, but I think it has something to do with weak stabilizer muscles in the rotator cuff, causing the bone and joint to click.

Make sure you warm up the rotator cuff really well prior to exercising.

I had the same problem. My left shoulder kept clicking. I had a physical therapist check it out - my shoulder was unstable because my shoulder blade was weak. I focus on keeping my shoulders back and and shoulder blades locked back as much as possible.

If it doesn't hurt you are fine. Its your tendon sliding over your bone at an akward angle (any move you dont do on an every day basis) or at a speed or with a weight you dont do in every day life. So unless you job/life requires you to do heavy front raises constantly, the clicking is fine.
Success is believing in what you can do, and doing it better every time.

I threw out my shoulder playing softball (catcher = lots of hard throwing) and it clicks now. I can feel a tendon moving around when it clicks. There is a really good stretch that I was taught to do by my doc and it has worked wonders.

And the same thing but with your arm in a 90 degree angle (hand pointing to ceiling).

Most of my joints randomly click. I'm like a walking drum solo.

Man if it was just my shoulder that clicked...I have to pop every joint in my body at least three times a day just to feel human! I also injured my right shoulder about two years ago in the gym and it still clicks...Its annoying but therapy bands can make a world of difference...

Same here...but as long as it doesn't hurt, I wouldn't worry about it. Sometimes it may become uncomfortable...but just stop, put the weights down and then try again...most of the time - it will stop!
