Implants and chest training
I have implants and am worried about them changing with weight training, i am bench pressing, love it, but worry about my boobs looking dented/bumpy or smaller which i have seen in both cases. Should i worry about this at all, and if so, what are some better exercises i can do, or should i not work out my chest at all.
Thanks girls!
P.S. I have unders, where the chest muscle lays over the implant.

Many women with unders do not train chest.

How long ago did you get yours? I had mine done in Dec. and train as I normally would. I asked my PS if I should change anything and he told me to keep with my routine because they are created to endure much more then that.

I know that they can endure a truck rolling over them and them not popping/breaking or leaking LOL! I am worried about them looking dis formed...and from what the girl above said, and from what i have heard here and there it seems i am right and that i should give up on weight training my chest muscles.
I got my boobies in April 2002 and it was the best decision i have ever made. I am happy with them....maybe someday i will go bigger. But for now...i'm a happy momma!
Congrats on yours!

How long did you guys have to take off all exercise? Were you allowed to do the bike or walk soon after?

Yes, you can cause them to shift by training chest. This is one of the reasons I plan to go over.

Yours look great! How many cc's did you end up getting? did you get saline?
Good to hear that you can train normally. Do you do much chest work, and if so, do you lift heavy?
Thanks!

Sometimes women with unders have lateral displacement from training chest. The implants get pushed to the sides, towards the armpits. Sometimes that occurs along with the implants being pushed down. Then again, some women don't get that. That can happen or it won't. You'll only know once it happens. It' very hard to predetermine even for a skilled surgeon.

The pic I posted was only about a month after I got them. I started with a 34 AA I always thought I was atleast an A cup for goodness sakes! I got 300cc filled to 350 saline implants which put me at a small C.
I have found though that I have a much harder time lifting bench (no discomfort but can't lift as much) but then again I have to consider I had a major surgery and that just takes time. I am almost considering taking a while off from training my chest because really...is there a point to it? That is something I am still debating for myself.

I intend to go over because I don't care if they look natural and training chest is important to me - plus most surgeons don't want to cut into pec muscle that's this thick anyway. Also, for those women planning to compete, my friend Suzanne hates her unders since when she flexes they move outward.

Mammograms are very painful with overs...get ready for that. But it's not like they're supposed to be fun. Good luck with your surgery and competitions! You look amazing!

I have heard this too...but i am gonna be off the subject now. Do you have any posts/articles/threads you've posted on basic workout for women that i can start with? I have been doing the Mark Rippetoe for 3 months and feel like i need to switch up. I am a newbie at the gym thing. You have an amazing body...definitely where i want to see myself. Please anything you can throw my way, recommend anything...would help me tremendously!!! I got the diet down BTW! Clean bodybuilder diet...i just need help in the workout routine department.
And Thank You ahead of time!

I would wait 2 weeks, nothing high impact at first just feel it out. I do minimal chest now because one is stating to sit a little higher I think due to lifting.

I am about 6 motnhs PO myself and got 275's, saline filled to 285 and 300, under. I have not worked chest directly since I got them and my PS would prefer I not work it at all, which is fine with me. Even when I was a small deflated B, and I was working chest a lot, I did not like the way I looked aesthetically. Plus, I don't plan on competing, so I don;t think I need to worry about it.

 Grazie.
I didn't think about mammograms, but that makes sense. Oh well, I could think of worse things.

I had a Dr. apt yesterday and asked him about this. He told me that I have nothing to worry about and I shouldn't give up lifting to build my chest muscles. I think for awhile I am going to try and do the total body work outs from NROLFW and see how that treats me. I did the first one today and added some cardio at the end...loved it!

training w/implants
I had unders done about 6 weeks ago; my doc said that during the contraction phase the muscle will squeeze the implants and you will notice a rippling during the exercise only.
But, I've done a bit of research and found quite a few women whose implants have shifted due to strength training. What I don't know is if they implants were silicone or saline. My understanding that the capsillary contraction that occurs will keep that implant in place to some extent but the flexion can actually break down the scar tissue that forms around it.
If you think your implants have shifted, you need to see your surgeon and get measured. Hope this helps.

I have never heard of there being any difference b/t saline or silicone regarding if/when your implants will be displaced. My understanding is that, if they are under the muscle and you are actively working chest directly, then there is a chance they can eventually become displaced. It is more a matter of position of the implant and constant contraction than the actual fill of the implant shell.
Either way, there is no way to tell if it will displace on you or not. For me, I would rather not risk it. Like I said, though, I don't compete. If you do, and have not yet gotten implants, then maybe overs are the way to do (though I will say that with really low bodyfat needed to show muscle, there is a good chance they will look a lot less natural. Hope this helps.
