Can HGH help heal herniated disc?
Okay, my doc did a quick diagnosis the other week, said I could possibly have a mildly herniated disc but all he's really said was that he could book me into an MRI scan in a couple of months (long waiting list) and in the mean time do back strengthening excercises and light jogging...
trouble is, I want to get back into running again for the competitive season and I don't know how long I'll be out or if I'll ever be able to do heavy squats again (they are kinda essential in my sport)
COuld HGH help replenish collagen and strengthen my back?

Having been on HGH for almost a year, I seriously doubt that it will improve your condition.
Herniated discs can only be resolved by physical therapy or surgery. I would recommend you stick to physical therapy and forego surgery. I have been able to manage my 2 herniated discs extremely well this way.

I don't know why your doc suggested running, but coming from someone with numerous herniated disc experiences, that sounds like a real bad idea.

Damn...I think I'm gonna hit major depression no running? goodbye speed, goodbye gains...f*ck, so how screwed am I then? How long did it take you guys to recover? Could the doc be wrong, I mean all he did really was make a guess based on how I described the pain, so is there a chance it could just be inflammation or muscle pain? I'm in f*ckin panick mode dudes...

herniations usually regress, NEVER take the surgical route unless you're facing severe pain and issues like loss of bladder control or mobility. Surgery for a minor herniation would be the single worst decision of your life.
Time and an aggressive rehab & stretching regime are the best idea, but hgh is always a good idea.

oh.. you're in the UK
well, save yourself some time and bother and don't bother going back to the doctor after the MRI results, unless you have BUPA or some other insurance.. they aren't going to do **** for you and keep you waiting years for nothing at all (personal experience, and my aunt's ex husband is a top spinal surgeon who 'pulled strings' for me.)
Took me about 5 years to get mine under control, because I gave up and listened to the docs = realistically you might be only looking at 6 months to a year at most if you're smart about it

Do everything you can for the midsection. Trust me, it's not the end of the world and yours doesn't sound severe.

Thanks man you guys have been of good help...see I know it can't be severe coz I only feel it when I do something agressive or if I move a cerain direction, so I will follow the advice on here and do stretching and core work. Maybe natural HGH could help replenish my already weak bones, coz my back isn't the only place with minor pain - metetarsals and left knee sometimes feel pain too lol.
If you were to make a guess, how long would you say it'd take to get back into sprinting?

Try glucosamine. It helps replenish cartilage and may help you but again, only in conjunction with physical therapy.
As for the running, I would avoid asphalt and other hard surfaces for awhile. Running on that now may aggravate the injury...

asphalt being the standard rubber tracks?
would grass be the better option then?

Yeah I spose I could do that to keep trim and lean but when you take time off from doing track the biggest loss is the motor patterns that your body maps out. COz I haven't been doing it that long it would be more of a loss to me then say someone who'd been doing it for years. Plus I'm not sure if I could do any explosive lifts atm at that is the only thing I can think of that could semi compensate for the loss of CNS training
Hopefully this all just blows over...

yeah man they do suck. I had 3 back surgeries last summer from one of them. The pain was crucial going down my right leg. but i recovered in a good 3 1/2 months.

Only 3 and a half months? that's awesome, I'm gonna keep my head up then, ordered some glucosamine and chondroitin as well as cissus rx, might getr some san bone boost too...

Yeah I'm doing them as well as bridges, also I try arching my back to move against the pain, usually makes my back feel more free

Herniated discs
I'm guessing by now you have the results from the MRI, so you know exactly what it is.
Anyways, I have 4 herniated discs (the 4 lower ones) and sciatica down my left side. I am also in track and field, but I pole vault (which is A LOT of pressure on the back). Therefore, it is NOT impossible to keep running and training with bulging discs. You have to be smart though! I don't vault as much as everyone else, but I make each one count (the quality over quantity mentality). Also, if it is killing you one day, take that day off or run a mile and do abs. It will actually hurt you in the long run to train more when you're in pain. A day or two of rest/easier recovery is the best thing for it!
Also, a strong core is KEY. Abs are essential in PV, but they are also crucial in back injuries. Don't just work your abs though. Work everything from abs to back to hip flexors to glutes. I do a lot of body weight stuff, and I still lift. However, I NEVER squat or do cleans/jerks/etc. There are other alternatives to these exercises that still focus on explosiveness: Box step-ups w/ dumbbells, explosive leg press with less wt., and plyos.
The best advice I can give is find what works for you. It took me a whole year to find the best competition season workout, and I'm still working on off-season stuff. You simply cannot do what everyone else does all the time, but take advantage of it. Just because people can do more reps than you does not mean they are doing it better than you. Do everything with a purpose, focusing on form and power. And allow yourself to take a couple days off to do an easy mile or strides and core work.
Hope it works out for you!

Mine are pretty severe, enough so that the doctor asked me for permission to go around showing the other doctors after she took the xrays. From my own experience, it can only get worse and running is one of the absolute worst things you can do. I was in your position about 10 years ago when I first injured it and I continued on with sports. Now I have to be careful just walking and you can forget about deadlifts, squats, and anything else that puts vertical pressure on the disk. Honestly, it's not worth it. There's not a morning that goes by where I don't wake up and say to myself "How ****ing stupid were you?" It's incredibly hard to give it up, but think about the fact that as life goes on the injury will only get worse, and how many years do you think you have ahead of you?
On a side note, do you guys get the really bad ache in the bones in your legs? I'm not talking about a shooting pain down your leg, I'm talking about where it feels like every bone in your lower half got hit with a sledge hammer. Like the worst ache you can imagine.
*edit* Eh, I just realized this is a bumped topic from like 5 months ago. Jackass.

arginine ornithine bad reaction
I had herniated a lower back disk about two years ago. Its since pretty much normalized with careful working out.
However, I recently set out to increase my HGH production. I read that Arginine, Ornithine or GABA are good ways to do that. I bought a Arginine / Ornithine combo. Took one 2000mg pill and woke up with as much pain as when i first herniated the disk. Was in bed almost two days.
I waited a week to clear the effects of the A/O combo and tried a very little dose just to see if it was the A/O combo that triggered my back pain. Bingo it hurt like hell the next morning. I have to think it was the A/O
The GABA had only minimal effects like this. I can still feel some greater muscular gains with the GABA.
I wonder if anyone else has ever heard of anything like this?

hgh and back problems
i'm 26 and have 3 torn and herniated discs in my lower back. my problems started abt 2 years ago while wrestling around drunk one night. biggest mistake ever. my discs are now bulging against my spinal canal. i lift on a regular basis, minus doing leg exercises. the risk of being laid up isn't worth it. i've been hospitalized a couple times and sometimes use a cane. i run a bar and nightclub which makes me on my feet for hours. i can carry full kegs of beer on my shoulder down stairs and what not, but if i grab a gallon of milk from the fridge my back goes out. i'm stuck with a huge decision, i need a triple disc replacement. this procedure is only done @ certain hospitals and only done for rare circumstances. i'm one of them but the Dr's say i'm too young. I hate the pain and the dependency for pain killers, while having no Ins. I've heard mixed reviews abt HGH and lower back pain. I don't see why it shouldn't help and have heard instances of it helping. I want to make a decision soon, the Dr's say i shouldn't lift a grocery bag and to treat my spine like a porclin vase to no risk parlization. Again I'm 26 and want to do something. I've grown to accept that there are things in my life that i'll never do anymore, and i'm fine with that. i just want to be comfortable. HGH from what i'm researched could help and supposedly has helped others. Any info from fellow back pain suffers?

First ofall, how did you injure your back? YOu body will tell you when your ready to get back into competition. DOnt' push yourself through the pain because it will just get worse. Use heat and ice. They help alot with pain. DO alot of stretching. Basically, time should heal your back.
