I like every kind of music from death metal to jazz,
but I think sometimes ELECTRO can be pure violence for your brain. It's not sophisticated in my opinion but I love it as a musical background to work out.
[quite repetitive, yes I know. But that's ok as far as you don't have to be too concerned about music while you are exercising.]
So guys what do you think?
Is Electro an utter disaster? Anyone likes it? [to such an extent that you buy LPs and CDs and stuff?]
Yes. Heres one of the best Albums, 1996 Detroit style
And I found a Utube, heres the song that defined electro-techno

Definitely not a disaster. When you understand what goes in to making the music, its alot different. Most people just hear the sounds - but try to think how those sounds are actually made. Its quite an advanced process to create good electronic music
Huge electro house fan right here. I'm always on beatport.com downloadin fresh stuff. Eventually when I have enough cash to buy equipment I want to DJ.
Personally I like this version better.

Well... in my view it's a subtle violence. The point is, music leads my imagination to some things I can't even imagine normally. When I'm driving I have to be careful, because I'm so much into music that I forget about anything else.
Violence is not only growling and guitars, I think the concept of violence can imply lots of other things.
Ok, I think I haven't explained myself properly, but I'm an idiot, so.

I do agree. Rep. Many people divide music into genres, I divide it in good music and bad music only.

you alking about felix da housecat type stuff?
Yeah, well electro can be anything ahah I know an Italian band, EPHEL DUATH, who mix jazz, electro and brutal metal. That's amazing.
Anyway Felix da housecat is soooooooooo cool.
TUNZTUNZ!
I'm going to voice my dislike for most 'electro' sounds. While my 'main' genres are techno and prog, I like them to borrow deep, jazz, and maybe some house elements...but preferably no electro.
Electro I do like...Modeselektor, Digitalism, Justice (sometimes...less and these these days), Duke Dumont (if you want to classify him as electro), maybe some Boys Noize and Mr.Oizo among others. Personally if I'm going to listen to electro, the structure of the song needs to intrugue me because the general 'sound' tends not to. And it should never cross genres (ie. Electro house *shudder*).

You know, they resemble The Cure very much, some way.
Especially the voice.
GUYS keep posting, I'm discovering new good music! ! !
this is who you should listen to it's more Trance, the best DJ in the World
I've always wondered, when people say Tiesto is the best DJ in the world, what he is actually best at? He's definitely not the best technically (even in his genre, he's got nothing on Eddie Halliwell...and there's someone else who's apparently very good who's name escapes me), he plays some pretty crap music...
Maybe he's got the best marketing/light show?

Well, in my view he's rather commercial. But I like him anyway. I'm a music-bin. Eat everything.
So, it seems I have to find out who this Eddie Halliwell really is!

Any suggestion?
Eddie is purely a DJ. As far as I know he doesn't produce.

Electro as in electronica or just as in techno? Because techno is a small part of electronic music
I can suggest some really good trance/goa/psychedelic electronic music that is not repetitive if you want. There's some really interesting artists that don't limit themselves to the repetition that most do

FYI, electro and techno are two very different things.
oh yeah, never mind. I thought electro and electronic were the same thing...I'm just confused because people are posting tiesto and deep dish which aren't considered electro right? What are some popular electro bands seeing as I'm not too familiar with the music
