GHB it works BUT DO NOT TOUCH
Hi there,
I am a social worker working currently for a short time in substance misuse and had to deal with a withdrawal of this drug today which is, Ill happily say, frightening and received a referral of another man on GHB.
I understand its origins to an extent and believe GHB has been used in muscle building/fat loss - for those of you quick fixers here thinking, wow I can make that at home easily and its legal products - DO NOT TOUCH THIS STUFF it seems worse withdrawing from this than heroin!
Its a fairly new problem (openly so) and many of us know very little about it Im wondering if anyone can help with where I can go with this new man, acute anxiety attacks on withdrawal and I have referred him to specialist doctors that believe diazepam to be the way forward, this man has chewed valium for fun to no avail.
Has anyone had any problems with it?
What do we need to understand?
How can we get people off it?

What I was thinking because it doesn't seem the withdrawal symptoms would be as severe as heroin, like he stated... maybe he added the B by mistake?

Wait, so the guy was drugging himself with GHB?
Can it honestly have a positive effect on muscle building and/or fat loss?

GHB withdrawals from what I have read, at least for heavy constant users, can be very severe.
no withdrawals symptoms for casual users.

there is a lot of debate about that. Though if you are using it as an alcohol sustitute, that alone could make a pretty big difference. I Know that even a couple nights of drinking a week wipes out most of the work that I did for the week.

I had no idea either.
"The first thing we should look at is its most commonly touted effect -- its stimulation of Growth Hormone release. It has, in fact, been found to raise growth hormone levels sharply in numerous studies (23, 30, 33). Some have claimed that these increases are only with intravenous administration or are the indirect result of GHB inducing sleep, as the onset of slow wave sleep is associated with increased GH levels. However, studies using oral delivery, have indeed shown increases in conscious subjects (23,30). With administration of 1.5 g of GHB, GH levels begin to rise almost immediately, reaching a peak of 3 times normal levels within 45 minutes, then rapidly falling back to within 25% of baseline by the 90 minute mark. Clearly, it does increase growth hormone."

I personally am a fan of supplementing GHB. You can abuse aspirin and get screwed; GHB is no worse. The main problem with it is that it is unregulated and dosages are inconsistent!

GHB is okay, but I prefer chloroform, it's alot easier to just clap a rag over her mouth than it is to slip ghb into her drink and wait for her to sip it.
