What are you doing here?
...or more specifically, what demographic do you fall under?
Some folks are here because they compete, some are here for general health & wellness and others are just here to socialize. Every so often it's good to get a 'snapshot' of the forum's population and see what the trends are.
I suggest looking at it as your current interest rather than as what brought you here originally.
For example, I arrived in 2004 as a 160-pound skinny-fat noob looking to stave off middle-age. I would have snickered at the idea of competing yet two years later I found myself qualified to compete at the Canadian Nationals. Goes to show how much a person's outlook can change in a short time

Primarily, I am here to learn as much as I can about BBing since I do want to get much bigger, although I do not see myself competing. I have met some folks here who have made a huge difference in my training, and that has made a world of difference to me.
That said, I also like the social aspect of BSing with like-minded people, which I mainly do via each other's journals.
But when all is said and done.... I just wanna get big... and being here helps a novice like me.
EDIT: Can't vote... I would think you left out one option "I am serious about BBing for my own personal benefits" or something like that anyway.

I chose, "I'm serious about wanting to compete in BB/fitness/figure" only b/c there wasn't a category that I felt suited me better. I am not certain that I will compete, but I am training to see how far I can take my body and then I will decide on competing.
Edited: oh, I like to socialize here, since I don't have anyone in my daily life that is interested in bbing or health, for that matter....I have a lot of time to socialize lately, b/c work is slow!!!

No "Obsessed" category??? I guess I fit into general health and fitness. I have no interest in competing, I just want the body. I came here to learn exercises, form, diet, etc. I keep coming back as there's always more to learn plus this site keeps me motivated. Ok, obsessed!

Kind of contribute, learn, make fun, rant, have a good time, meet interesting people, learn, put my foot in my ass, that sort of stuff.
What's the troll thing all about? Remind me...........

To bad we can only select one answer.
I came her to change years of physical neglect and get healthy but I've stuck around to compete in at least one PL meet and eventually a BB contest.

I told my wife she deserves to be married to a guy with a body that I had back when I was in my early 20's. (was boxing and a construction worker back then.)
*warning: adult undertones follow*
There was also a moment I remember clearly. A certain animalistic hunger in my wifes eyes as she raked her fingernails over my rock hard abs one night many many moons ago. I want that "Look" from her again.
That's why I'm here.

Very interesting Poll Chris.
I put, "I'm training for a specific non-bodybuilding sport". Sex is a sport isn't it?

I stumbled across this site looking for Good advice in starting a w/o routine to correct years of bad health habits and past non effective routines. I found this site very informative and helpful with a lot of great personalities, so I stayed awhile and needless to say now I am addicted

I opted for general health, although it's really an extention of my post-accident rehab. Almost as strong as I was before the crash, but I'm actually in a whole lot better shape now than I was then.

Baldie some how found my bodyspace and encouraged me to join and participate. He said I had a lot in common and could share and learn a lot here. If I didn't compete tho, I wouldn't be here.

seems as good a place as any for my first post.
im 26 (dont seem to be any section for people my age!!!) and used to powerlift before a nasty pec tear (right where the tendon joins the sternum) and a long bout of sciatica (painful!) and had a pretty long lay off.
never really been one for competitive bodybuilding, so i just lift for the sheer joy of being good and getting better at it. my main goals just revolve around what im shifting up really, but i dont go lower than 5 reps, because of the weakness on the left side, so it kind of just a mix of powerlifting and body-building style training - keeps me in shape
course i still take it seriously, eat a load of food, train correctly. and im studying to become a doctor, hopefully a surgeon but ive been giving a lot of thought lately to sports medicine too

since "fitness", like "figure", is an established category spin-off of competitive bodybuilding, I opted to use "health and wellness" as a descriptor to avoid any misunderstandings

Don't bother trying. There are a few here that get their panties in a bunch that this is not a "pure" bb'ing site. I tried to explain rationally why people see otherwise, but they do not listen.
