Build muscle. Bulk right now dont waist your time getting abs abs are only good if you have a decent chest you will look like a dumb peice of lanky **** if you dont bulk. Bulk all the way until next jan and then focus on cutting and getting abs for that summer. This summer your goal should be to get a half decent chest that will take the attention off not having abs.

Sorry bro your lanky get out your head out of your ass and get yourself back into reality, you are lanky and need to bulk you will not look good with abs and you are like 14 percent simply because of your lack of muscle, you will find it easier to cut with more muscle (every pound of muscle burns 150 calories).

You don't look that small. I think its just the picture angle or something. I would try some deadlifts. They do help the abs! Then, hit abs hard only once a week. You can definitely improve before summer. Before spring break I will make amazing progress the week before. Too bad I don't work that hard all the time though.

150 calories? your WAY off..
hes not THAT damn small, Ive seen much worse.. But he doesnt look like hed have abs.. If he bulked for awhile longer and worked abs, he has a chance to look decent for summer..
Hes going to get lost in the stupid training ways of the teen section though, and come out in summer with No abs, and no LBM gained, you watch..

depending on your metabolism, you can have abs in about 2 months... I do abs 3 times a week, HIIT twice.... eating clean is definitely the biggest thing.
And forget what people are saying about how you're lanky.... take it from experience, I'm a lifeguard at an ocean beach, and there's gonna be a million meatheads this summer who are bigged with no definition. If you look like you're carved out of wood, you'll stand out way more.

IMO people care too much about abs.. I didnt mind taking my shirt off at ~14%.. and dont mind at 10-12%.. its not like your considered fat just because you dont have abs..
But, I am cutting to abs, and am Lean bulking, Ive been overweight from like 12yrs old on, So its time to stay lean. Mesomorphs FTW..
Your an idiot, do that math on that, and youll see how seriously flawed that is.. Im negging you for persistant stupidity.

Ok I'm going to go against what everyone says. Most people on here want to be Jay Cutler, but you obviously don't. There is nothing wrong with cutting where you are at. You have decent muscle mass (compared to the average joe). But it would have to be a SLOW CUT since you don't want to risk losing more lean mass. -500 calorie deficit maximum...
If abs are your goal, then theres no one stopping you. Just don't over do it. Once you get down to a bodyfat you like better, start slow bulking and keep those abs!

dude i hate those kids that argue and **** and try and defend themselves but im legit not a lanky kid. true, im not a big kid but im 5'8 almost 170. not trying to be a smartass cause u are right i need to get bigger, i still view myself as a tiny waste of space. but im thinking some abs will hide how small my chest is at least until summer is over

QFT
This is huge, especially if you have a high metabolism. A lot of people focus on cardio and eating less, which will lose weight... but some of that weight will be muscle. Keep your protein up, your carbs and fat low. If you do it right, you can burn fat while losing very little muscle, and if you do it very well you can GAIN muscle while losing fat. You need a lot of lean protein (chicken, tuna) with sparing amounts of carbs. Space your meals out and watch portion control and as little sodium as possible. Doing this I was able to get my abs back to where they were in my profile pic (which is from last summer).... except that I'm 10 pounds of muscle heavier.
Tear it up, brotha.

Even 50 doesnt make sense..
Ive put on about ~40lbs.. thats 2000 more calories.. which means im at like.. 4000calories for maintenance? Nah.. I dont think so.. Lol, Not even CLOSE..
I think its ~20-25 cals per LBM.. and this is what Ive read multiple times to take in when BULKING.. It makes a LOT more sense to me if I think about it.
Of course this depends on bodytype/Metabolism
