time to practise what i preach...

this will have to begin with a rambling rant, as i need to get it all out there! hope you all dont mind..
i am a personal trainer, currently working at a gym, at bunnings (trade), and doing my masters in accounting at uni. i also live with my boyfriend of nearly 6 years, so as you can see, i have very little time for me! infact, ive taken a sicky today from work, as i just felt like i really needed some *me* time, (granted that time of the month is looming)..eek

i LOVE bodybuilding/weight training etc etc, i LOVE it so much i decided to get my certs so i could be near it all day long, but now that im working in a gym , i seem to be losing my passion. could it be my (expletive deleted) boss thats ruining my passion, im not sure.. but something is.
and i want it back

im hoping that by putting my journal on here, and helping clear room in my head, and hopefully with advise from anyone who is willing to give it, that ill be able to figure out what i need to do to fix this *problem*!


my problem is, i get right into my training, and then something happens and i cant train for a week or so, and then i lose motivation. my current dilemma occured when i was .. showing off... infront of the boys. i had an audience whilst training and so really pushed hard.. as you do, lol, and then couldnt let my arm hang straight for a weeek! i think i strained a bicep tendon maybe..

so im just starting back and as my strength has gone down, so has my motivation.. along with my diet and everything i need to have right before ill make any gains.

ok im blabbering, my goal is to one day compete in a figure comp, (inba or anb or something), but i wanna take my time. i want to build up some good hard muscle before i think of dieting down. i dont want to look all sinewy on stage, as i have seen some girls look! i LOVE muscle.
i train on my own, around plenty of ppl who love it as much as i do though, so thats not an excuse.
my biggest problem is my diet... ill feel fat and bloated, then im embarrassed of what i look like at the gym, then i dont train hard! what a cycle!@#@#$

im 23
curently hovering around 70kgs,
166cm,
about 27% bodyfat
and i hold all my excess weight around my thighs!

i can train hard. and gain alot of strength, i can bench nearly 60kgs, but im not consistent enough to get anywhere.
i actually feel better.. i think i may go get a legwax.. that always makes me feel hot! lol

Hey there. welcome!
im also a personal trainer and good at helping others but not as good when it comes to myself. Dont judge yourself too hard. If you want to do a comp, work towards it, just set little goals. Dont feel like u have failed if u slip up, just get back on it. That sux that ur boss is an arse. I worked at bunnings when i was 14 and that sucked. hehe. It is hard to find time, but u have to fit it in somehow. what are your hrs like>?

merse.. did you do your training at AIF in Bourke st by any chance? ..very wise words, its so easy to be motivating for other people, but how can we expect to motivate them if there training more than us! lol

i trained shoulders & arms tonight, just light as it was this workout that i injured myself doing a fortnight ago!
i love this shoulder exercise called 'rocky presses'.. although an ex pt at my work used to ridicule them.. i love it as a warm up to my workout!
its basically a standing military bb press,but you go to the front & back and thats counted as one rep.. gets really hard really quick! awesome


i also ate pretty well today, considering i was home. i try to have 5-6 small meals 3 hours apart. i dont count calories or anything, but i base my diet around most of my carbs in the morning, fats at night, and protein in nearly every meal. im taking glucosamine with fish oil, and a multi. i also use energised xpand preworkout, horleys ice whey pp postworkout and just started anadrox which is a fat burner/nitric oxide reactor...

any suggestions are most welcome.. i love new ideas and advise..

hello all!
today i could only fit in some cardio after work, and before my pt clients, but i guess i need to be doing some so its a good thing!

im excited, ive just started training with an old high school friend on a sat when i finish my gym floor shift, we just do a full body mixed workout. and its great. i love that we both push ourselves really hard and it gives us both a spotter. we normally will do 2 exercises for chest/legs/back & shoulders, and really push ourselves.. great way to finish the week

another good day of eating.. i made these little egg white pancakes and left them in the ffridge for a quick snack, they went down really well tonight when i got home and couldnt be bothered cooking yet.

thank you amjo883. is it mandy? :P i cant believe i didnt start a journal sooner, i already feel more motivated.
just knowing i was going to log on today make me think.. oh i better have somehting to write haha

more tomorrow, its late and my muscles need to grow. off to bed to dream about me doing a set of chin ups on my own :P
oh.. we drove past dohertys road today, and i went ooh dohertys!!!! all excited and stuff.. my bf thinks im obsessed with bodybuilding lol (its a big bb gym in vic)

hey vanillabn... thanks so much! i really hope keeping a journal will help me to stay motivated, i think it will. i love knowing there are so many people out there going through the same things as me, same excuses same plateus etc, i was training today and thinking.. hrmm i want some good results to write about --so i think itll work.

oh my gosh!@#%#$^#%^ such a good lunch. i need to go there before anything else! lol
starving when i got home from gym, worked and then trained with my sat training friend! lol
found in the fridge some leftovers: mash pumpkin, tuna, beans. so decided to put them together in a bowl, with some oat bran and egg whites, parsley and cracked pepper... made it into little rissoles that i fried with olive oil spray!! sooo goood!! then i had them on top of spinach and green beans (as im obsessed with colours matching, orangey colours in the rissoles so needed greens)and arranged them in a little circle of 4, with a 1/4 cup of lowfat cottage cheese and a tablespoon of low fat salsa over the top!


wwoah!!! it was a party in my mouth! or is that coz i was so hungry??? haha

i love making things up like that... as idont count calories or grams of things even, i cant give any values, but i know they were that good i wanna go back for the last 3 in the pan!

training today: light coz still sorta nursing my bicep... ill just list my heaviest set...
- all 3x10
flat bb bench - 17.5kg each side plus bar
incline db flyes - 12.5kg
decline db press- 17.5kg
-all 3x20
smith machine squats s/s - 25kg each side
ab bench
leg ext s/s - 41kg
leg curl - 18kg
calf raises s/s - 40kg
decline situps
-all 3x10
w/g cable row -70lb
c/g lat pulldown - 110lb
was really feeling nackered by this stage, needed my rissole concoction!



my diet is basically:

am. 1/2 cup oats, 2 tbs blueberries, 1/2 cup skim milk, and a protein shake OR 4 scrambled egg whites (when out of pp)
3 hrs later. small fruit (apple/pear etc), handful almonds
lunch. about 150gm meat/chicken/fish etc, about 1/2 cup brown rice/wholemeal wrap, and 2 cups salad / vegies
3 hrs later. protein shake/protein bar (which ever i have with me)
dinner. about 150gm meat/chic/fish, 1/2 cup rice/pasta/sweet potato, 2-3 cups vegies/salad
3 hrs later. sometimes i might snack on some cookies that i make (thanks to ubermumma... ) or a protein shake, some nuts or worse! sometimes even a bowl of rice n yoghurt mixed together!mm i love it


the last meal is my worst time of day! because im always doing so much, i am usually home late and then i start to pick! i am lucky that i do the grocery shopping though, and so i choose what we have in the house to pick on!


any suggestions to my basic plan are most welcome! i dont really weigh things.. its more a guesstimate when im preparing!

hey uber.. thanking you i dont get the pounds thing.. and they were only sets of 10.. i just didnt really get how to write it, so it was above.
wow! it looks big like that..but its not much more than we did ages ago when we trained chest together, i mean we had 15's on didnt we??...

yes lunch was good then i ruined it with tea.. tacos!!! granted i used diet mince and cottage cheese.. still disgustingly going to my thighs! lol

tomorrow i have 2 pt clients so im going to walk to work and then home so i get some cardio in. hope tomorrow is as nice a day as today!

oh... and i was thinking about how i posted my diet.. just so everyone doesnt think i am a truly clean eater... that is my goal for the day! i rarely have it so good. such as those fat laden,carb intense,tacos i called my tea!

i wish i didnt love the members and the convenience of that gym so much!

i can see now why uber is SO full of positive energy all the time, she is such an inspiration to be around. definitely one of the nicest ppl ive met from the gym. i hope that some of that motivation & dedication can rub of her to me, hopefully this journal will help that too

all this support is absolutely amazing! i wish i had of started sooner! i didnt think that bench was that good, i must be training with the wrong ppl! obviously. i guess my partner who benches 50kg db's is a bad person to ask if im improving! lol i love chest exercises so i always increase in them.. wish i liked back more!
i guess i do train more working in a gym, as i want to be a good role model for other people, aswell as for my own fitness.. and with pt's its easy to work sessions in around clients! looks pretty dodgy if the clients train more than the trainer!!

today started off good, i woke up at 7 had breakfast (muesli and banana) then walked to work (5km's)... had 2 pt's, short workout, then walked home.
(ill list highest weight)
45deg leg press s/s -150kg
db shoulder press -15kg
bulgarians s/s -20kg bar
lat raises -8kg db
back ext s/s
rear delt raises -7kg db

then came home to my yummy yummy pumpkin with everything rissoles i had left from yesterday! mm

how bad are marshmallows? does any one know?? i bought a packet yesterday, and me and my partner chris, ate the whole thing! i decided i only wanted the pink ones and so he only had the white ones. he's so good to me when he wants to be!

ok... i need to study.. multiple linear regression.. eek

Marshmallows aren't that bad in moderation

I hate that about the boss...but it must be one amazing gym to keep you and uber around!! She has been a great friend through my journey..so I can only imagine how much inspiration she must be in person

thanks for all the support guys.. i can feel happy thoughts coming my way.. how lovely to come on here, and ppl who ive just met to care so much.. thanks again!

i got up this morning and did 45mins cardio, just incline walking & bike low intensity stuff

trained chest tonight..

all 4x10(ish) ill list heaviest weights

flat db bench - 20kg db
cable flyes- 23kg
incline bb press - 14.5kg plus bar (not olympic.. maybe 15kg)
decline bb press - 10kg plus bar
pec dec - 45lb
chest press machine (vertical) - drop set


i saw one of my pt clients training tonight, and she was telling me that she had a tragedy over the weekend too.. very dear friend died.. it was the same person! i got shivers!

ive eaten ok today.. LOVE my breakfast the most.. oats with blueberries.. maybe i just like the colour i dunno..

i have school tomorrow so cant train, i might have to check out the discount health shops in elizabeth st though.. thats something gym'y hehe

Oh wow, it's sure is a small world huh?

Oats with bluberries is my most common breakfast. I love it... Yes, the color is pretty But I think it's yummy because I love blueberries so much, and oats are good with just about anything.
