lifting after getting a tattoo

I'm not exactly sure where to ask this but i guess here works..

So i just got a tat on my bicep and needless to say i've lost some mobility in that arm. I was wondering if any of you have experience and know when it would be o.k to lift without damaging the tattoo. My artist said 3-4 weeks but i want a lifters opinion. Thanks guys

it's been a while since the question was asked but still...for the record.. 3-4 weeks is A LOT of time.. basically, it's just like sunburn, so it hurts a little but it's ok to workout if you keep the place sterile.. no contact with dirty benches, etc..
artists always suggest such long recovery periods, they jus want to play safe..
