Preacher curl
Ok, I am posting this here due to the amount of experience in this foreum and age.
When i do what i would consider heavy preacher curls (115 is my heavy) i cannot go past 90 deg. (my forarms are parallel with the floor) or my wrists will explode, so does that mean that i have exceeded the weight i should be doing and just go lower weight higher rep range? I was always convinced that the preacher was FOR heavy weight you couldnt get say doing standing curls...maybe I am going about it all wrong...
Well, what you all think?

I am not too sure exactly what you mean by 90 degrees. I presume that if you are saying parallel with the floor that you mean that you cannot go beyond that! If that is the case then the weight is at this stage too much. Try increasing wrist strength with wrist curls and the bicep move - the Zottman curl. As the Zottman is rotational it helps the wrist.
If by 90 degrees , you mean that your wrists are vertical , then that range is suitable.

yes, wrists and forarm is parrallel to floor, the back of my hands are face down completely flat...but my wrists cant handle anything around 100 or more...sux, cuz i have had good sucess so far using preacher as my heavy lift in my bicep toolbox...
I am going to look up the other excersice Zottaman...try that.

I would do video if i could heavy but i am deployed rit now...dont have access to any video stuff.
Besides preacher, what would be next best bicep mass producer?
I already do incline curl drop sets(drop # 3 times), one arm hammers, cable curls (curl to sides of head with both arms) and standing dumbell curl......i dont do all these excerscies in one day...i usually do 3/4 bi excerscises w/back wrk out

Try the spider curl using the bb - if you have access to cables there is a bench reverse bicep curl [ the site has a video of it on its exercise page] or you can use a Zottman preacher curl with the db's. Good luck and post some updates on it.

Preacher curls
The preacher bench is used to take away any cheat movement while performing curls, thus reducing the amount of weight you could curl by other means, say, standing BB curls. Why not do both BB curls, and preacher curls? You can lift more weight standing, and you can more precisely target just your biceps in the preacher bench; best of both.

to me it sounds like your wrists and the bottom portion of your curl is weak.. well not weak, but not up to the weight you want to use.
I would suggest possibly dropping your weight to 90lbs and doing full ROM preachers to build up the strength.
Preacher curls are not necessarily meant for "heavy" weight.
IMHO, the most important part of a preacher curl is that bottom half of the motion.
Get that wrist and forearm strength up. (hammer curls)

I would recommend reading the first post in this thread:
http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...ighlight=bicep
I quit doing preacher curls after reading this, haven't missed them either.

Take a cyber rep Bando. I've been looking for the OP (Fitnessman's Bicep Training post (did a search & never hit it). Surprised it wasn't in Jtroster's best links thread.

IMO preacher curls are not to be done extremely heavy, for mass on your biceps I would say weighted chin-ups (Not pull-ups) and your tried and true standing BB curls.
With that said if your wrist are interfering with the lift then strengthen the wrist and forearms by doing, reverse bb curls, wrist curls, reverse wrist curls, farmers walk, Hammer curls, Rope ups.
Also one of the best biceps exercises that directly hits the biceps in its entirely are incline DB curls done simultaneously.

wow..todays back/bi workout was awesome...but best part was when i got to biceps. I put what you guys suggested together and here is what i came up with:
standing bb curls
simultanious incline db curls with supine hold
cross chest hammer curls
close grip pull ups to failure as burnout set
I felt SO pumped when i got done with this routine AND no wrist pain! Thanks everybody again...I am convinced if i stick with this for a bit, my guns will become a larger caliber..lol
